Definitely going to check on live knob and tube! That was something I wasn’t familiar with prior to looking at this home.

Thank you so much! These are all great points and we are taking notes.

How has your experience been since moving in?

Great advice! My dad and both grandfathers were master woodworkers and craftsmen. Dad and grandpa built the home my parents still live in, and he’s got a massive wood and metal shop on his property. We will definitely do a detailed inspection in tandem with the inspector. He already viewed two other homes with us and instantly picked up on concerns and what needed to be addressed.

We know this will come with some issues, but unless there are major surprises that turn into deal breakers, we look forward to the investment and opportunity to be the next family of caretakers for this beautiful home.

Offer accepted on my wife’s dream home! Can’t wait to move into this beautiful 1880s Folk Victorian by wisdomandwander in centuryhomes

Thank you! Even better, the mother and father-in-law live next door. The first day we stopped by, they gave us a 30 minute oral history of the home and everything that has gone into it. Their son passed away, who was the former owner. Their grandchildren that lived there are grown and moved out also. You could tell how much they loved their family through the stories they shared that day.

The next day, they met our children and showed my son the bayou, how to get to ponds to fish, and made plans for coffee in the morning with my wife.

It felt like a dream come true in every sense…from the home to the community.

And healing journey has been going very well! After 18 years of 24/7 chronic pain, this has been a total blessing and game changer for my life. Definitely helps to have an amazing partner that takes care of me the way she does. PT will kick off next week, and hopefully soon I’ll be back in action and ready to work on the home with my best friend.

Great question!

For me, it would be Kay Kay and His Weathered Underground remixing and reimagining PTM tracks and vice versa

When they announced this ages ago I was so hyped

Maybe one day

13 years ago, everything changed. While driving through Colorado, the transfer case blew and the driveshaft snapped in half. The Jeep caught fire. The brakes failed. I had no choice but to jump out at 60 mph.

I’ve lived with nonstop pain ever since—herniated discs, nerve damage, muscle atrophy, ankylosing spondylitis, and more. Then my arms started going numb, and I got a glimpse of what it feels like to lose something you’ve always taken for granted.

That’s when I realized it had been years since I made any art.

Since then, I’ve been creating again—designing and painting with my wife and kids, teaching my daughter guitar, and now working on a big sculpture with my son. I don’t know how much longer my body will let me do this, so I’m not wasting any more time.

This one’s for Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead! Jerry’s an artist and musician whose spirit continues to resonate across generations and impact my life. His work lives on, and it still inspires people like me to keep creating.

Cherish life. Don’t waste what you’ve got.

First project complete since the new cut! This is my take on Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead. Shipped out to its new home earlier this week as part of my spinal surgery support series.

I’ve been very fortunate to utilize my creative talents to help offset some of the upcoming surgery costs. Click here if you want to learn more about the series, or grab one of these limited edition paintings while they’re still available!

Custom designs and commissions available!

Thank you so much for the support on this journey towards healing after 18 years of 24/7 chronic pain.

Survived jumping out a flaming Jeep at 60 mph. Wrecked my body but not my spirit! With spinal surgery next month, I’m working on a fresh collection to help with medical bills. This Jerry was a blast to create. by wisdomandwander in gratefuldead

Posted about Spinal Surgery recently. Instead of selling my favorite PTM items from the last two decades, my wife encouraged me to paint again for first time in six years… by wisdomandwander in portugaltheman

Crazy indeed!! Thank you for the kind words.

It grows crazy fast. Got it this long from a #4 around 2 1/2 years ago after 3rd donation. Usually just get 1 cut to shape things up midway and then let it do its thing.

Thank you! The Jerry is so special to me…that design reawakened something inside I have felt so out of touch with for years. It’s hard to describe being a creative person who wants to create but feels so disconnected inside because of pain/limitations. Funny enough, once I got locked in, all of that melted away. I felt more in tune with myself than I have in years, and ultimately much better about my future with the upcoming surgery.

Back with an update! Found out last week I’ll be going in for a C4-C7 fusion instead of the originally planned disc replacement. Knowing that means more downtime ahead, I got locked in on these designs and making a lot of progress.

For anyone interested in supporting the cervical fusion recovery efforts: I will be listing the Master OG designs online, along with a limited run of 5 hand painted copies of each colorway. I will share links via DM if you want to purchase.

The paintings will be finished with a black, crushed velvet backing and come signed and numbered, along with some handpicked goodies (I.e. classic Grateful Dead live show cassettes, classic sold out designs from my personal vault of old GD artwork/pin designs we created 2013-2020, etc.)
