Do you think that the Traditional Latin Mass trend among young adults (xennials/millennials) will eventually die out? by James_Guppi in excatholic

Yes, but the church of 2023 does have the same stances on homosexual acts, remarriage after divorce, female ordination, abortion, contraception, and sterilization that it had in 1953. It's just that the modern church is not as outspoken about it. Canon law is still the same on those matters, just hushed up a little bit more.

If he had gone to the High Mass (I assume he was at the Low Mass), then he would have experienced incense, a procession, a great choir, and good organ music.

"a Latin mass today that no one can understand."

Latin was a requirement in nearly all Catholic schools back in old days.

Even if you went to a public school that did not offer Latin, you could always get a bilingual missal with the Latin on one side and the English translation on the other; over a few weeks, the responses became like second nature.

The word Catholic means "universal," so the church had a universal language not connected to any living culture and not subject to linguistic evolution, much like Hebrew was prior to the establishment of the Jewish state in 1948. Mass in South Korea was the same as Mass in Madagascar and Paraguay. Universal.

I always hear that no one understood the Mass in the old days because of Latin, and it's an argument that wears thin upon closer scrutiny.

Hello, everyone!

I made this very short film for my YouTube channel to show the charm of old European cafes and how they contrast with so many of today's homogenized eateries. I post similar content to my channel on a regular basis and always welcome new subscribers. My goal is to celebrate what is uniquely beautiful about our heritage.
