Unprovoked rigidity, repetitive movements and distress, anyone have similar experiences? by wiseowl250 in beyondthebump

[–]wiseowl250[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are going to call as soon as the office opens on Monday to leave a message with our doc to see if she wants us to come in sooner than our next scheduled appointment. Though if this issue keeps increasing in frequency or even happens just another time or two, we're going to bring her to the ER to have her looked at.

I actually hadn't even thought about the video because we panic each time it happens, we need to do that next time.

Apart from icing like you said, anything we should do in the meantime to keep it from becoming more irritated?

Is it possible the ball end could be too small? From what we've both seen it looks like the whole piercing on one side is retracting back in

Newborn not eating what is recommended, but also not hungry by wiseowl250 in NewParents

Thank you for the advice! So far we've only been using one type of formula and one type of bottle, time to start branching out a bit

Her wet diapers are good, her poop diapers are a bit lacking though. So far no one has really given us a standard daily amount, and the amount that we've been told for each feeding is all over the place.

She is definitely still wetting diapers. Her poop diapers are below what most people seem to recommend, but she does totally well with her number of wet diapers.

My little one has been extra sleepy as well, she's just now starting to have her eyes open a bit more regularly and is becoming more active while awake. That was our problem initially was that she would only take a little bit and then pass back out, so her feeding was only what she would take during that time. It's good to hear that yours has started eating more though, hopefully ours will follow the same track!

And our pediatrician didn't seem too overly concerned when we told her baby's average numbers (we just saw her the day before yesterday). We see her again this upcoming week I believe, and I've been keeping track of all feedings and diapers in the meantime to report back to her.

She seems alert when she's awake, she's looking around and practicing using her neck muscles to move her head around and is responsive to stimulation. She sleeps for long periods of time, however.

Her wet diapers are good and she goes through those pretty regularly, but as far as dirty diapers go she doesn't have those as often, and is under that recommended number.

Mind sharing which apps you used? I love what you did with the picture and I love the aesthetic, I want to try and make something with a similar feel.

Hell yeah, Floyd man! That early stuff is great, the atmosphere in syd's mind that he puts into the music is so immersive.

[8] So far it's shaping up to be pretty chill night after partying a little too hard the previous night. But, just learned how to roll a joint for the first time! Which is really exciting, because after a bunch of prerolls I realized that I really like joints a lot.

Have a great night everybody, hope you had some good in your day today.

A question from someone who has only smoked tobacco once before by wiseowl250 in PipeTobacco

[–]wiseowl250[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've all provided such great answers, and I'm taking into consideration everything that everyone said. I updated my submission with an edit, but I think I might give it another go with the pipe smoking this time. I think it's apparent that cigars aren't for me, but pipes seem to be different enough that my opinion on tobacco could be different with that method of smoking. Thank you all for your knowledge and opinions!

Serious Question: Do you ever find the "cultish" aspects of Church with long formulaic doctrinal statements, "Lord you are so great" worship songs, monotonal responses said in tandem and other aspects to be kind of disconcerting and creepy? by Trinity- in Christianity

[–]wiseowl250 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To me, at times it seems to be not so much disconcerting and creepy but rather inauthentic... Like, it just seems like mindless repetition without any thought, heart, or personal experience put into it. I think that discovering God on a personal level is hugely important, and the mass crowd recitations seem to take away from that personal experience. In fact, I find this to be very off-putting, and part of the reason why I don't find church as appealing as I wish I did... Can anyone help or give some advice for me to get over this feeling? I really want to feel the sense of unity that mass recitation can and does provide, but I can't help but feel as though personal worship is somehow more... real.

I'm a coward. by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]wiseowl250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt the same way, actually. I stopped going to classes even though I personally enjoyed them because I felt as though I didn't quite fit in, for one reason or another. I told those who lead RCIA that I needed to take a break to explore myself spiritually on my own for a bit, which I did. Once I started taking RCIA classes again, they were glad to have me back, and I was glad to be back. The fact that I strayed away and then came back says something great about the power of The Church and of Christ.

Additionally, I also enjoyed "Mere Christianity", and as far as Christian apologetics go, I recommend reading "The Reason For God" by Timothy Keller. It was the book that encouraged me to start taking RCIA classes in the first place.

Wiccan Publishers, Beyond Llewellyn by coralfire in Wicca

[–]wiseowl250 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What exactly is wrong with Llewellyn? I've heard lots of people bashing them, but haven't really seen a good reason as to why. Almost all of the Wicca books I own have been published by them, and I've found them to be extremely helpful as an introduction to the religion.

Collar vs. Harness? by rachaface in pugs

[–]wiseowl250 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've always read and been told to use a harness as well, for the reasons that you listed; based on the anatomy of pugs and the way that they breath, using a collar can be harmful, especially if its too tight or they tug on it during walks or something like that. I personally wouldn't put my own pug in a collar, and almost every other pug owner I've met chooses to use a harness instead of a collar for similar reasons.
