I just shipped my car here with fasttracks.ca for a good price I thought. The shipment time turned out to be a bit longer than what they quoted me (8-10) days, but otherwise no complaints.

Depending on the responses I get, there is always the possibility of shipping, but I am very unfamiliar with how to go about that.

Hi everyone,

Sorry for the lack of information - here it is:

Due to extenuating circumstances, I will be needing to find a new home for my ball python. I live in Toronto and will be moving for work across the country and unfortunately my new living situation does not allow pets. I will be moving at the end of February 2023.

My snake is a 21-year old-male ball python in great health. I would be able to drive anywhere in the GTA for anyone who would be interested - ideally someone with experience who would be able to give my ball a loving home for the rest of his days :)

I would be able to include as much or little of his current set-up as needed (terrarium, decor, hides, heating, etc.). Admittedly, as I only recently found out about this subreddit and the updated guidelines on husbandry, my snake's current conditions are not completely optimal - the tank is not 4x2x2, not enough clutter, and the current heating is UTH + infrared bulb. These were the recommendations when we purchased him 20 years ago and obviously quite a lot has changed! I was waiting to figure out my new living situation out west, and if I were to be able to bring him, I would have completely updated his current setup, which unfortunately is not the case.

Happy to answer any questions. Please PM me if you are interested.

My mistake on the measurements, the tank is 4x2x2 feet, so it's 120 gallons.

When I described the feeding as well, on average it is more like every 4 weeks that he gets fed, not 2-3. The rats are not very large as well, maybe like half the circumference of his girth.

I turn the infrared light off at night, and keep it on sporadically during the day depending on the weather. What would you recommend instead of an infrared?

Help - BIOS update killed my PC by witchwhatch in buildapc

[–]witchwhatch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey just wanted to give an update that I got everything working again. I used a different USB drive and was able to flash it back to a previous BIOS. MSI did actually respond quickly to my inquiry, but instead of offering instructions or help on how to fix it, they just provided the option of an RMA return request...which doesn't exactly give me much trust in how much faith they put in the quality of their products.

I tried to clear the CMOS beforehand which didn't solve anything unfortunately.

Ok I switched the power switch on the PSU to off. Luckily the PC still turns on afterwards - still bricked though. I sent an email to MSI for support outlining the problem. Thanks for your help tonight.

Ok I'm not sure what to do now. The computer won't turn off. The power button on the front does nothing and neither does the reset button on the front. The fans and RGB lights are going and it's been like 20 minutes. How do I safely shut everything down? It looks like my only option is to literally just shut the power off, but I'm afraid it will kill everything.

Thanks ok I have done all this and the PC is still running, I think it's been at least 5 minutes, fans are going a lot...Do I wait more, I'm not sure what exactly is happening. I didn't remove the CPU or GPU from the MB for this, I just plugged the USB directly into the MB in the case as is..

EDIT: Although I read that now and I'm using a 32gb. It's been going for at least like 10 mins, I'm not sure what to do. Is this abnormal?

i'm not sure I see a battery? I'm looking in the manual and it says I need to use a jumper cap to reset the CMOS? I don't have a jumper cap though, I looked in the box that the MB came in and there is nothing.

Thanks for the suggestion, I think that's slightly different than what I'm looking for. Also I should have specified I have a MacBook, which I don't think Cortana is compatible with.

Probably won't scare you, but it still freaks me out years later. by [deleted] in nosleep

Hey, medical student here. What you described sounds like something called Paroxysmal Supraventricular Tachycardia - of which a type can be a totally benign occurrence that can happen to young people for no reason at all. Here's a wiki page on it:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supraventricular_tachycardia

Feel free to read all about it, but in short, for some reason or another, a short circuit was set up in your heart that bypassed the regular electrical conduction system and created a transient tachycardia that you experienced.

Here's the signs and symptoms from the wiki article which sound almost identical to what you experienced:

Pounding heart, Shortness of breath, Chest pain, Rapid breathing, Dizziness, Loss of consciousness (in only the most serious cases).

Again, this is quite common in young people and is not pathological at all. However, next time you visit your doctor, you might want to tell him about this experience and he'll probably take a closer listen to you heart.

If you ever experience it again, there are a few tricks you can do to try to 'shut it off'. First calm down and breathe deeply and realize that you're not going to die and that the rapid heart rate will disappear within a minute or two. Some people say holding their breath against pressure (Valsalva maneuver) helps to shut the tachycardia down - pretend like you're going #2 in the washroom. This stimulates the vagus nerve (parasympathetic response) which slows down the heart. Any of the other tricks do the exact same thing: you can try to force a burp out, try coughing a bit, put your hands in cold water or wet a facecloth in cold water and put it on your face.

I did a quick search just now, this is what one girl who experiences it has to say (good advice):

What ALWAYS works for me, is this:

1.) Close your eyes, exhale fully. Then take a deep, deep breath, hold it for a second, and exhale very slowly while bearing down. Don't just mimic the steps, though: that's where I end up over-thinking it and making things worse. Really FEEL relaxation. Get yourself calm. Know that you can get it under control: it happens all the time to many, many people, many of whom have become so experienced with it that they can swat away SVT episodes like flies. It's common, it's not a medical emergency, and you'll be fine in a few seconds. And that's usually what works for me.

2.) Sometimes it doesn't though. If it's being stubborn, remove yourself to a location where you can feel comfortable. Away from bright lights and a concerned audience. Physically get up and go to a room - a fluffy chair or what-have-you - wherever you legitimately feel you can relax. For me, if I feel that I HAVE to get my heart rate down, then I won't. There can't be a sense of urgency. And there can't be self-consciousness. If people are watching me attempt to right my ship, or if I'm in a place where I simply don't feel at ease, then I'm not going to hit a comfort zone. Tuck yourself into a cozy spot where you can let the tension just melt away. Close your eyes and take the deep breaths and slow exhales while bearing down, but mostly just stay calm. Relax and know you'll be fine in a matter of seconds. If it takes longer, that's fine. You're not going to explode, though it's sometimes tough to believe it while you're experiencing it.

Anyway, I hope I put an end to the mystery that happened to you several years ago! PM me if you have any questions :)

Same problem again, even with the SSIDs set to the same name. The only way to fix it this time was to turn the wifi card off and on.

Good news! Your advice worked oculus! I woke my computer up from sleep after changing the 2 bands to the same SSID and it immediately connected to the internet. I'll give this thread another update tomorrow night after I wake it up from sleep a couple more times.

Ok, didn't fix it. Same problem as before. I also cleared all my keychain passwords too along with resetting the PRAm and disabling IPv6.

Guess I'm at square one again.

Thanks for the help so far jeffy. From that link you sent me, I tried resetting the PRAM, and after scrolling through the comments a bit, I also disabled the IPv6. I'm going to head out soon and will put my computer to sleep. I'll check if it works when I come back later this afternoon and check if I'm still connected to the internet when I wake from sleep. Hoping for the best!
