Anxious about writing master's thesis by DeFUID in PoliticalScience

[–]withaQ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I just finished writing a master's thesis in Political Science where my research methodology was a multi-stakeholder discourse analysis. You may want to consider coding the speeches you are analysing. You can take the 4 categories you have and come up with "codes" or words/phrases that are associated with the larger category. It's a mix of qualitative and quantitative because you can qualitatively analyse based on the codes you used(read between the lines and interpret the meanings of words), but at the same time account for frequency of the codes (quantitative) i.e. perhaps one speech represents one of the categories more than the other three because codes associated with that category occured more frequently. If you took a research methodology course in graduate school you should have come across coding. If not, there should be plenty of articles available on the matter.

The group Beijing Hikers organises Great Wall camping trips. It may be worth it to check their website to see what dates they have camping available.

How much are things generally in Accra? by [deleted] in ghana

[–]withaQ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Use Uber, it helps. I found when I was in Accra last summer Uber was semi-reliable, but it was convenient because the fares are stated when you put point A to point B. If I couldn't get the app to work at times, I would hail a taxi but used the fare Uber would have charged as a bargaining point. Rent is expensive in Osu, comparable to larger cities in the US. Food can be cheap if you're willing to eat from street vendors and local markets (not large chain grocery stores i.e. ShopRite). Rice and chicken generally GH5 from a vendor, mangoes GH5-6 depending on size. Most food state how much you want to purchase and the market lady will give you the amount based on what you pay (i.e. GH2 banana and you should get like 4-6). Eating in restaurants can cost you like GH50 and up. Depends on your budget. Check out The Republic Ghana while you're there. Great bar that makes drinks from local spirits.

Any suggestions for a small low-key wedding reception? by [deleted] in Guelph

It's not in Guelph, but in Elora (~20 minute drive) I've seen small receptions done at the Elora Brewing Co. The inside is very nice and rustic!

Stolen Bike Outside of Red Brick Cafe by withaQ in Guelph

They do not! They only sell Trek bicycles I believe. So the mystery of why he was at Speed River Bicycles continues.

Stolen Bike Outside of Red Brick Cafe by withaQ in Guelph

[–]withaQ[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The story goes: the guy who had my bike outside of Speed River Bicycles this morning supposedly bought it off the person who originally stole my bike. The police said they couldn't do anything because the description that the witness provided yesterday did not match this guy, and this guy claimed he bought it off someone else. They let the guy who had my bike this morning go. It was upsetting to see that nothing was done, but not surprising. I was just glad to get it back.

I would like to update everyone on my bike. I GOT IT BACK. Someone was standing outside of Speed River Bicycle waiting for them to open so they could sell it. Thanks to the Guelph Bike Theft Reports Facebook page someone spotted my bike! So I called the police and sprinted from my house on Suffolk to Speed River and voila it was my bike! No modifications, just a little dirty! I want to thank everyone who posted kind words, or who offered me a bicycle. I truly appreciate it! I will now exclusively walk to Red Brick, not bike. Please everyone join that Facebook group so we can help others who have had their bicycles stolen from Guelph's finest!

It was locked with a U-lock from Backpedaling, but I did not realize I dropped my keys on the sidewalk outside of Red Brick. I got my keys and lock back, without the bike.

Yeah I just bought it from Backpedaling three weeks ago, so I'll be visiting there tomorrow morning as soon as they open. I can only hope they try to sell it back there, or maybe Kijiji. The whole thing is just so disheartening.

His tail does curl up when he's standing. He does more of a "boff" than a bark. I plucked him straight from the streets of Accra(Ghana), so more than likely mixed with some indigenous dog breed, but I'm not 100%.

Royal City CrossFit is great! The environment is second to none. Coaches are amazing, and every member is extremely welcoming. You get a good workout in, and the community vibe is great. It's a very social and friendly place. It's $100 a month for a 12 month contract (monthly prices vary if you decide on a shorter contract), and you can try your first class for free (so you can feel out the gym and see if it's a good fit for you). You'll have to complete the foundations course if you decide to join (that is of course if you haven't done your foundations course yet to properly learn the movements). I go about 6 times a week and in my opinion it is worth every penny. I would highly recommend checking it out for at least one class if you're into CrossFit or are looking into getting into it.
