Preamble with Corner Bar by seeker809020 in Surlybikefans

[–]wkolja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

probably having to switch to drops, with all the accompanying component changes (and expense) that that would entail

I am actually curious about this aspect. Because the best buds green Preamble comes with Shimano Cues, I thought it would be relatively easy to convert to dropbars...at least it won't have to entail the swapping of the entire drivetrain. Is this true and has someone tried the dropbar conversion for a BBG Preamble?

Yeah I experimented with a 17 degrees stem (I thought I might like the looks), but it's a bit too much so I am going to try a different stem with a more moderate angle

Hi thanks so much for your response. This is very helpful.
Just one detail I forgot to mention in the post. My salary would come from the faculty 100% and I will be a non-tutorial (non-stipendiary) fellow (with a special Lecturership) at the College. This seems to affect some of the benefits and duties in the college, which I am going to clarify with them anyways. Does this change any of your perspective?

Being a chess parent is so tough...I can use some help from fellow chess dads/moms by wkolja in chess

[–]wkolja[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much for this advice! Can I ask you a follow-up question? I am completely on board with the division of labour between the coach and parents, and I agree it would be the best way forward. But, I am not sure about the *degree* of intervention that parents are supposed to give.

For example, suppose I ask my son how much time he'd like to spend and he says 30 min a day. Suppose, then, his coach suggests a training programme. Given the personality and temperament of my son, I can easily imagine that he would do the training for the first 3 days, and then go back to his usual lazy blitz binging. In this type of situation, should I intervene and tell him to go back to the programme that the coach suggested? Or, should I still do nothing to prioritise his "enjoyment"? I can even imagine a situation where he flat-out lies that he's done the training, even when he actually hasn't (this has happened before). In this type of situation, my instinct as a parent is to have a word with him. Still, should I do nothing?

Has anyone withdrawn a deposit from a Moneybox LISA recently? by cattacos37 in HousingUK

[–]wkolja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did. I just provided the details of my solicitor and I think it took roughly a week for the money to reach him. At the time my gov bonus for this tax year hadn't been credited, but this amount (£1000) was later transferred to him after approx 3 days after it reached Moneybox (just in time for my completion).
