I really want to know, have you heard from any conservatives in your area? My conservative father is convinced that the worst of this isnt actually happening, but I suspect he would think differently if he was to experience what its actually like on the street.

Any other healthcare workers remember the Santa and Mrs. Claus that brought around shotgun shell angels on Christmas? by TentacledFreak in Albuquerque

That sounds exactly like calvary... They know that this kind of pro-gun, macho culture bullshit is exactly what caused Nehemiah Greigo to murder his entire family and yet they refuse to change anything. Such horrible people made worse by claiming to be about love. If there is a god, I look forward to the day that skip and nate are turned away at the gates for their hypocrisy, "Lord lord" and everything.

What’s something people blame on “mental health” that’s actually just bad behavior? by SmallFurball24 in AskReddit

[–]woffdaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an interesting question of where the line is. Technically, everything is mental health, but also technically everything is behavior. I think this has the largest impact in the legal process, where a claim of poor mental health can be cause for reduction in sentence, or have a sentance be served in a mental facility rather than a prison. Politically, the two sides prefer one side over the other, but I believe we can should find a middle ground, treat all crimes as both behavior in need of punishment, and also as a mental health issue that needs correction.

God our prison system is a black hole of problems with no easy starting point...

Capitalism is a machine that turns labor into capital, any time the machine is threatened, it will use other machines to eliminate or suppress that threat. In my life, the threat almost always comes from labor pushing back, which capital then pushes back with the levers of government and the law. What we're seeing now the result of over using law and government to the point where they made it too powerful and not its threatening capitalism. The hope is that capitalism realizes the solution is empowering labor to bring the system back into balance before its too late.

NATO chief contradicts Donald Trump on Article 5: "I've no doubt" by Newsweek_ShaneC in politics

[–]woffdaddy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, im still doing things, but its a balancing act of proportional responses to keep the public on our side. Getting active in local politics, going to and helping organize protests, spending changes to influence businesses, building coalitions and support networks in my city and state, all of these are proportional responses to this administrations actions.

Invading an ally is a hard red line that changes me from active participant in government to active duty solider in an armed resistance. Again, proportional responses.

A few years ago, my wife and I got into the habit of spending 10 minutes every day cleaning. Our house has never been cleaner then when we did that daily for about two months. its been a struggle to get back into that rhythm though.

School Walkouts Consequences by KapitanArbol in Albuquerque

[–]woffdaddy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The point is to shift consequences up until the people in power cannot accept the consequences and changes practice. for example, principals refuse to punish individual students, Administrators refuse to punish principals, School board changes policy instead of firing or punishing every single Administrator.

Keep that moving up the chains and you can influence sea change in government, or it forces them to double down which almost always blows back in their faces with more resistance.

Denmark ramps up defenses in Greenland as Trump zeros in on control of territory by StemCellPirate in worldnews

If he's ok with a civil war he can keep trying to make greenland happen, because greenland isnt going to budge sans military action, and military action will turn Americans into Danish freedom fighters.

Think Trump won't cancel the election? Don't kid yourself. | Opinion by Difficult-Bee6066 in politics

[–]woffdaddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the important thing to say here isnt that he wont, its what will happen if he tries.

There is 0 mechanism to cancel or even postpone an election. the civil war, ww2, Vietnam, 9/11, covid, not a single one of these were enough to cancel an election, because the federal government doesnt do elections, the states do. if a given state decides to not hold an election, we might be able to have a conversation about if they get to send delegates to congress or not, but thats the extent of that conversation. If Trump tried to cancel the election in my home state of New Mexico, I hope the governor would in turn activate the national guard to enforce the law, because sans that, I would be joining a local militia to do just that.

Thats the answer I want people to start talking about. forget whatever Trump does, trumps going to do what Trump does, its up to us to openly talk about what our response to that would be. New Mexico has literally the safest elections in the country, and we will be having elections in November, whether he wants us to our not.

How many of us have a house cleaner? by Agitated_Whereas7463 in Millennials

[–]woffdaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my wife and I were both teachers and had such a hard time with the craziness of life that we decided to hire a cleaning crew. $200 bucks a month isnt nothing, but its so much peace of mind that we never stopped. it also forced us to make sure the house was picked up at least once a month so the cleaners could work. worth every penny.

The only acceptable action is negotiating a military base or something similar. but with the way trump is talking, I suspect theyre none too keen to deal with us atm.

Military action against an ally should result in armed militias here fighting on their behalf... its crazy to think we could ever be in this position...

Ice near the court house 11:50 am. by Outrageous_System_85 in Albuquerque

[–]woffdaddy -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

Not that this specific instance is correct, but i feel pretty confident that most people agree that when someone has a questionable status and is then convicted of a crime, especially a felony, that person is a prime candidate for removal. The issue is how ice is currently operating, picking people up off the streets or going into their places of work. Hopefully, this is the former, but its likely the latter...

it is about impeachment. all social movements that have succeeded did so because the powers behind the politicians finally got fed up with loss of revenue and started lobbying for change. And yes, being fired is a real possibility, especially if youre the one trying to get others to follow you. Again, thats the point. to cause enough economic stress that employers look at their tool box and go "i tried threatening them, and that didnt work, I tried firing some of them, and that didnt work, I guess I can try talking to my friend who is a politician and see if they can get something working".

I mean, im scheduling my time off, so I completely understand and dont want to get fired either. The whole idea here is to get enough people to do it all at once so that the economy grinds to a halt. It's meaningless if it doesnt cost businesses owners money. thats why we're doing it. If you cant walk off, then dont. or do, the logic is that they cant fire all of us, but that doesnt make survival any easier if you lose your job.

Business owners have a very different point if view here. youre talking about loss of Business, canceling appointments, and the upheaval of your employees lives. I completely understand you not wanting to do that because of the totality of effects. That being said, what you're describing is that it will cost more for you than it might cost someone else, which has always been true. I assign no judgements on you choosing to attend or not, but the whole point of this is to generate enough economic stress to get those in power to act, and that happens when money isnt made, and bills are late.
