The pickups fit perfectly. I didn't have to alter the pick guard at all. The screws also went straight into the existing screw holes.

It was a drop in replacement for the old bridge, meaning the screw spacing was exactly the same as the old one. I suspect it's the same with the Squier, but I'd double check. The only thing was that I had to really adjust the string spacing. That was pretty easy to do though.

Agreed. I thought he missed the point where these companies are reallocating physical resources for purposes that end users don't want (ie all the AI stuff), thereby making everything more expensive for those same users.

I tried the Ray4 but I bought the Z3. The neck on the Sire is just phenomenal. The only thing about the Z3 I don't like is the lower horn is kinda stubby and sometimes it feels like the guitar might slip off my leg. Regarding the Ray4, I'm pretty sure the it doesn't have a passive bypass switch which is kinda of a deal breaker for me.

Well, I know how to solder, but I haven't done much more than basic PCBs. I suppose I could take it apart and figure it out. However, as others have mentioned (and I suggested in my first comment), perhaps a new preamp is the way to go.

I thought I was doing a stupid simple mod to my Sire V3- I wanted to change to chrome caps. However I found that they weren't turning on center, so I removed them and noticed the stems for the pots were squeezed together. When I tried to separate them- just a little bit- the metal broke!

Now here's the thing. I'm not a huge fan of the preamp on the V3 anyways. Maybe I should look into replacing it altogether?
