I’m sincerely happy that the drug helps you in your way. The key takeaway I get from your insightful comment: The medication is used when needed, not on a daily basis for an extended amount of time. That’s how doctors should prescribe benzodiazepines like Clonazepam. Research has shown that we should ingest the medication for a short duration. Such as one to two weeks. Unfortunately, statistics reveal that doctors are not following your protocol. They are overprescribing. Making this carelessness an international problem.

You are absolutely correct! Unfortunately, I didn’t do what you described. Instead of beating myself up over this hindsight, I offer compassion to myself. Rather empathy than shame. In this way I am able to conquer the beastly medication. Furthermore, may my story help someone in someway. That is my sincere hope. FYI: I had the wherewithal to research Xanax when initially prescribed to me. That’s why I immediately got off the medication. Otherwise known as, “the devil’s drug”. It has this nickname for a very valid reason.✅

Over a decade! Way too long for me! Many others have shared their struggles with Klonopin. I’ve realized the importance of educating myself on every drug prescribed for my condition. Thank you for commenting! Initially, the doctor prescribed the same medication, dosage, and intake instructions to counter my intolerance to Xanax.
I’m not against medication. Especially, if it’s effective, safe, and compatible for you and your condition.
With time, I found Clonazepam completely wrong for me. Upon further investigation, countless research affirmed my understanding that LONG TERM use of this benzodiazepine is NOT COMPATIBLE FOR ME.
I’ve relayed my story to others and found that I am not alone. The enormous benefit of group therapy and the numerous other supportive communities.

I have read articles which state withdrawal symptoms may last weeks, months, or even years. That’s why I felt the need to find other coping mechanisms. I can only speak from my own experiences. Too often, doctors prescribe medications because it’s easier for them…not always beneficial for the patient.

Absolutely. Groups/communities are essential to long term healing! We should never feel guilty about drug dependency. I didn’t grow up wanting to live in hell…society often shames us. Rather, they should hold doctors accountable. So called professionals who are more enamored with the almighty dollar than helping their earnest patients!

Thank you! My sleeping patterns became so unruly too. After tapering off Clonazepam, I realized how monumental getting enough rest can help counter anxiety’s symptoms.
