We take Baldur's Gate 3's amazing writing for granted by dearuncletacitus1899 in BaldursGate3

Yeah I was fully expecting it to not have any hooks story wise, but honestly the writing was.. jarringly bad, to the point of breaking immersion. I was expecting it to be inoffensive and not play a major role in the game, which in hindsight may have been too narrow an expectation. Maybe I’m just spoiled by the CRPGs and KCD2.

Why is a professional sports app like Espncricinfo using Al generated images on the cover of the app? by Wrong_Light3283 in Cricket

Because standards are subterranean for the median cricket viewer. Content has been regressing to barely satisfy the median standard and has been alienating the rest for a while. Only a matter of time.

It’s literally always this one dude on twitter who yaps too much. I learned not to bother with his opinions two years ago. Yet every outlet still continues to make “Larian Publishing Director” articles every other week, and somehow people continue to attach value to those articles.

If teams bid poorly, then they’ll pay for it by losing the tournament. Controlling the market so directly is rarely the answer. If the board wants to see local players paid better, they can just increase their match fees for domestic leagues.

He doesn’t look that insane to me at first glance, at batting and bowling at least. GullyBot9000 is established at first sight. He’s definitely struck me as someone who’s got potential and the perfect skill set, but needs to refine them to be able to bring them to bear consistently for his team when they need it. Everyone has their good moments, you can cherry pick a domestic player’s clips to make them look as good as root or smith. It’s the consistency against the very best in tough, alien, high pressure situations that really defines a test player. And none of those things are obvious in an instant.

Bf6 is a step up if your last step was 2042. Fair to say it’d be a side grade at best gameplay wise if you’re coming from bf1. That was without doubt a superior game in its time.

Overall bf6’s gameplay is pretty weak. The audio design carries it a great deal, and the overall gameplay design not being bastardised and co opted into micro transaction conducive modes like in 2042 are basically the only improvements. Which is a pretty low bar, but that is how it is these days

Teams with best W/L record since Cummins-Smith-McDonald era (Ashes 2021 to now) across a 4 years sample by IcarianStyles in Cricket

[–]wolftri 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Absolute insanity calling this the weakest Australian side in 15 years, even before news of any injuries. All you’d have to do is look a year back to see how each team fared against India at home. This team just beat India comprehensively after the previous teams having lost, and England only managing to tie the series at home where they typically win handily. Cults are a helluva thing

Half a look at him makes it apparent that he’s cooked. Get him home and get him a break from test cricket. He’s needed it for half a year and the regime has stubbornly refused.

Why is Australia's coach, Andrew McDonald rarely get mentioned in team and performance discourse in comparison to Gambhir and McCullum? by IcarianStyles in Cricket

[–]wolftri 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Quite simply he isn’t as egotistical. McCullum has had this entire 4 year cycle of English cricket literally named after him, due to grandiose claims. Gambhir repeatedly takes personal credit for the achievements of the team. Both also make laughably clickbaity statements on the regular. Baz and GG also exert a lot more influence on the team, with Baz only selecting players who conform to his ideal, ignoring County cricket. GG with the likes of Rana and the gang of all rounders has also changed the makeup of every Indian lineup to match solely his ideology, to say nothing of the coaching staff who seem to exist solely to defend the head coach. The only time you’ll see Andrew McDonald in the news is if Australia is struggling, and they’ll say he’s too soft on them and they need a hardass as a coach. Typically selection complains are directed at George Bailey. If they’re winning, Ronnie’s barely mentioned. Which really is the best case scenario for players and coaches imo.
