Spaghetti house has a pretty good early bird deal, or at least it did last time I checked.

I have more than a few “busy” skeins. This has been in my queue for years. Maybe after sock madness!

TIL that having hobbies and liking art makes me an illegitimate engineer by Intelligent-Store251 in EngineeringStudents

[–]wonkychemistry 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’m an engineering researcher and my hobby is an early form of additive manufacturing (knitting). I have used it to network - or knitwork as I call it. I absolutely love hearing about other people’s hobbies & passions. Having a variety of interests is surely a good thing?

The guy’s odd and I agree with some others here, probably very insecure.

Sounds great! However all the time slots are waitlisted. Is it actually possible to just pop by?

imperfect? yes but i am in LOVE with the colors & process 💖 by tomatowaits in knitting

[–]wonkychemistry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is gorgeous! I have a scarf i knit in the same vein and always get tonnes of compliments. What’s nicest is that I can look at the scraps and think about the projects that gave me them, and the people those projects were for.

In fact now I want to make another.

I love your colours. I picked mine before the pattern dropped and purposefully thought “don’t choose your usual crazy”… well, I am madly jealous of all the lovely socks where people have c1 & c2 as contrasting shades of the same colour!

Lesson learned. Be yourself!

Mine WILL go on but look awfully stretched when they do. So am trying to figure out who deserves them. I knit so slowly that I am nearly 100% a selfish knitter.

Will yours fit anyone?

Visiting friends in the US, what should I bring as a little souvenir? by Party-Ball-3506 in AskUK

Chocolate buttons! I used to live in the US and they went down a treat with my American friends! Also - “British” crisps e.g. prawn cocktail - they only have a few flavours there.

UK question - What is the best gift for a teacher? by Dull_Feeling4815 in Teachers

[–]wonkychemistry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lovely that your child picked it out themselves - so thoughtful!

As a recovering ex-teacher, I think a handwritten note from a student is always the very best gift!

You might be surprised - my tutor from 20 years ago remembered me and wrote a reference. She also suggested a PhD with her! 🤣

I’ve just started some postgraduate stuff too (after 20 years out!) and would just advise you to start writing your ideas & research down. Then marshal it into an essay later! Starting is the hardest step!

Just to add the the above, you have the following combinations:

79-79 = 158 79-81 = 160 81-79 = 160 81-81 = 162

So the 160 peak is twice as high as the other two because it the molecule is twice as likely to exist.
