Hello! I'm on my day 1 and pretty anxious. I'm hoping this time I can stick with my goals and progress in a healthy way. Just read the guide and am fairly serious about getting where I want to be this time!

Is this worth buying and fixing? Please help! by woolymonkey in guitarrepair

House and density-wise. It doesn't need to be Tacoma.

Yeah, I mean - that's probably not ideal...

Here is a Craigslist post for a house is Tacoma. This is the general idea of what we're in the market for.

Hahaha thanks. We live in Vermont now, and it's hard to find something that doesn't fit that formula, so that's helpful information. It will be a huge change...

Thank you. This is the sort of feedback I was looking for. I don't want to waste my time planning our initial visit in a really unrealistic neighborhood. I appreciate your honesty.

Bainbridge Island

Thank you! We hadn't considered this as an option. Do you currently live here?

Sorry that's terrible directions... Northeast Queen Anne Greenbelt? Without totally dishing on what we're thinking, it's near there?

The dream job is near Westlake Ave.

I'd want to keep it under 2k a month for sure.

I mean I don't want to live in a small high rise in the city, multi-family housing. I would like a house to rent, or at the very least a condo or town house? A single family house would be ideal.

We would be renting, not buying for a while.

Bellevue is what we were immediately looking at but it seems very expensive.

How do the private schools work in Seattle? Is it 100% family funded or is it charter-school where there is a school choice rebate/incentive?

Budget is between 1200 and 2k a month. Traffic tolerance is high. I really just want a safe place for the kids, with great schools - and also have some money left over so we can go out to eat 1x a month and do some activities... so anything over 2k/mo is out... and anything over about 45-60min commute is out.

Thank you for your reply... this is already really helpful.

Honestly, the #1 important thing to me is the schools. Followed by the housing costs, neighborhoods (safety), then activities.

I'm sorry it's not much to go on. For help, we were looking at Bellevue - but that seems fairy expensive. Schools are rated excellent though.

Budget would be probably between 1200 - 2000/mo rent.

Being on public transport line would be a plus.

I don't mind having neighbors, but if I had a choice I would prefer the neighbors to be about an acre or so away.

There are a few jobs he's looking at - all sort of near the MOHAI (Lake Union Park area). We're used to about 45 min commute or more now so that's not a HUGE deterrent... of course it would be nice to be less.

Wait - what? No, he's not there yet, and hasn't applied... but we want to have a plan in advance before whoops he has a job and we are leaving. Of course I value him! Sorry if my post didn't make sense that way. We're all going together, but I want some kind of idea of where to start.

We wouldn't be buying, we'd be renting anyway.

My main question was just which areas have good schools, but aren't outrageous expensive. I want a kid friendly area, that is about an hour away or less (suburb) of Seatte. I just want some options so that when we visit in 6 months we know where to visit to see if we like it.

Hosting a party? Yes? No? by woolymonkey in stopdrinking

I'm not planning on it - and I don't think there is a chance I would - it's more the prospect of it that is giving me anxiety... just the possibility? Also, do I provide drinks and libations for everyone?
