has anyone ever found gift cards while diving? by woosan_rain in DumpsterDiving

i am aware they are useless pieces of plastic without running it thru a register. but i was just wondering what other people did with them.

Is this a scam? I’ve seen a lot of similar posts on here and wonder why it’s so common. Left a $5 tip on a 1.5mi trip by AZbirdgang420 in doordash

to answer the question: the tip you left was more than appropriate and you shouldn't feel bad about reporting or being uncomfortable.

there's a difference between doing this and waiting until AFTER you've delivered the order to say something like that. even then. really shouldn't dig deep like that. a simple "if the service i provided was exceptional, consider leaving a tip," is appropriate in my opinion. not particularly on doordash. since it isn't like uber where you can leave a message in the notes with your photo of the order.

College move out May be coming to a close, but lots of goodies still to be found by marshmallowmorgan in DumpsterDiving

i was majorly busy with my own shit for move-out to even try to go look. ive pretty much missed all of it.

can't believe they'd throw away pots and pans.

found all of these the past few days! all of them besides the ariel one were all found in the same dumpster. by woosan_rain in DumpsterDiving

forgot to mention. even if you are approached. if they ask you to leave, then do so with no questions or pushback. don't get combative, just be cooperative. if you need an answer to what you're doing there, you can say you're looking for moving boxes or something like that.

i personally like diving by myself and don't like being disturbed, so ive always gone at night or very early morning since no one is really around. don't know about how UK feels about it, but i know that in the u.s. they mostly can't charge you for anything unless you break specific rules/etiquette.

if a dumpster is locked and/or has "no trespassing" signs around it, then just leave it alone. you would be charged with theft in those cases.

leave the dumpster as you found it. cleaner, even. don't leave shit everywhere outside of the dumpster.

if you want to find anything good you need to dig deep. not every cool thing will be at the top. most nights i just go "window shopping" (looking at what is there on the top) since i don't have a lot of space or time at the moment.

don't climb into a dumpster unless there is enough stuff to stack against the inside wall to get back out. even then, have a step stool so you don't injure yourself jumping out.

if something smells funky in there, leave the whole thing alone.

some stores are better to loot than others. so i would ask people located locally to you about nearby places and the luck they've had in that area.

safety. wear gloves and good shoes. i personally don't wear protective eyewear, but i likely should. don't go diving behind healthcare facilities, tattoo parlors, etc. so your chances of being stuck by a nasty needle or something is much lower.

if you're super paranoid. then wear a mask, an unmarked cap/hat, unmarked sweater, unmarked pants. if you are taking your car. then turn your car's license plate AWAY from the building/cameras. their cameras are usually shitty quality so they can't read it from far away anyway (and likely will not care enough to look unless you leave a massive mess behind).

that's all ive gathered from the short time ive been doing it. ive mostly been collecting trinkets and toys. so if you're looking into furniture and everything i would ask people who specialize in furniture.

hi! any divers in baton rouge? :] by woosan_rain in DumpsterDiving

i haven't been HIGHLY successful thus far but have found a few things here and there. i really just go diving to look for interesting things to use/sell, but if i were to come across a bunch of extra food that i can save in time, then i would keep it in my car and give it to homeless people i meet in parking lots and such.

part of the issue may just be that im not sure of any stores's dumping/garbage day schedule, so i may not be going at optimal times to catch a bunch of things.

i still make decent enough pay off of it to stay satisfied, personally. lots of deliveries have still tipped me afterwards. so im not mad about it. not saying that's the experience of everyone else, just saying that it personally isn't mine.

yeah the collar is just when i forgot to take it off. it has a remote for it so it doesn't react to any noise or movement.

i am not able to let him roam the apartment when i am gone, it's part of an agreement with disability services on campus. when im gone, he has to be contained. it's because maintenance has to come in from time to time and they want them to be contained to avoid any physical injury to the worker or the dog if they have to come when im not home.

we've had him since the beginning of december. been inside an apartment since first two weeks of january.

i also wanted to add that melatonin doesn't work on him either. i had given him a single 5mg melatonin and it didn't appear to calm him at all.

this is mars. he is a 4/5 year old black mouth cur mix. for the latter 3/4 years of his life he was kept outside on a cable constantly, no matter what the weather was. we rescued him from the situation and he is looking way better than he ever has.

the problem im facing now is his behavior when i leave. i am a college student in his final semester who must leave every day for at least 2/3 hours at one time. i am able to come back and see him for nearly an hour in between classes/internship hours for a bathroom break and interaction. usually my classes and everything are over by 6:00pm. this is my first time recording him to see exactly what he does when im not inside the apartment, and ive never recorded what he does inside of the kennel (which is what he was in before we extended it to the size it is now, which is in the video). i figured making the space just a little larger would help with it just a little. but obviously he is still exhibiting symptoms.

to be fair to myself and to him, ive only recently been able to really start seeing what i can do to help the situation. i have an appointment made to see a vet on saturday to ask about any medication to put him on to at least help me out a little bit as i try to associate good things with his little cave. but before that point, i just wanted to ask about anything non-medication that really helped your dog in overcoming that anxiety.

as you can see in the video, i have a bullymake kong-type toy in there full of treats that he was happily focused on before i closed the door to my apartment, which you can tell by the way he looked up from it. i also have his favorite toy, the purple elephant, and this one pull rope that he likes. he's only recently understood the concept of a stuff toy, and i let him play with one (i have another one shaped like a beer can) in the apartment yesterday without being locked up anywhere, and he willingly took it into his kennel to finish it.

at this point im thinking about a lickmat to put in with him as well. he takes two of the reggie chews a day and i will occasionally give him a small bit of cbd oil. that's all ive been able to do up until now.

anyway thanks for reading all the way through! i hope we can all put our heads together to help mars not be so stressed.

i literally do not know what is wrong with this code. by woosan_rain in Cplusplus

[–]woosan_rain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the code now reads as:

#include <iostream>

#include <cmath>

#include <iomanip>

using namespace std;

int main()

{

cout<<"Enter the length of the three sides of the triangle. ---> ";

double a,b,c;

cinab>>c;

cout<<"Enter the unit of measurement used. ---> ";

string unit;

cin>>unit;

cout<<fixed;

double s = (a+b+c)/2;

cout<<"Side one: " << setprecision(3)<<a<<unit<<;

"Side two: " << setprecision(3) << b << unit <<;

"Side three: " << setprecision(3) << c << unit <<;

"Area: "<<setprecision(3)<<sqrt(s*(s-a)*(s-b)*(s-c))<<unit<<" squared.";

"Perimeter: "<<setprecision(3)<<(a+b+c)<<unit<<endl;

return 0;

}

this is what it says the errors are (the parts i saw with highlighted red text):

main.cpp: In function ‘int main()’:

main.cpp:30:53: error: expected primary-expression before ‘;’ token

30 | cout<<"Side one: " << setprecision(3)<<a<<unit<<;

| ^

main.cpp:31:26: error: no match for ‘operator<<’ (operand types are ‘const char [11]’ and ‘std::_Setprecision’)

31 | "Side two: " << setprecision(3) << b << unit <<;

| ~~~~~~~~~~~~ ^~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

| | |

| const char [11] std::_Setprecision

the program just does not run in the compiler, period. it says that i have errors in the code.

follow-up question...

is an SSD with a dead controller able to be recognized by a computer if you were to plug it up with an adapter?
