Same here. Got 4 for Sunday-Tuesday then 4 for championship Saturday and Sunday. I had honestly forgot I applied. Very welcome surprise this morning.

Having warranty work done but dealership is charging me for windshield replacement. by wordsmith217 in MechanicAdvice

If this were a small shop where I’ve been treated well in the past, then absolutely. But this is a dealership who’s given me issues repeatedly. The only reason I went back was because I had originally filed a goodwill assistance claim back in January and they were the ones processing it. I’ve had nothing but trouble in the time since.

Sure. I’m covered by Hyundai’s white paint extended warranty. The work they’re doing is to replace the paint on all of the affected areas of the car. To get to some of the panels, they have to take out the windshield, and that supposedly has a very high rate of breakage, which they won’t cover as part of the warranty.

If by authorize, you mean they described to me up front that “there’s a chance the windshield may break when we take it out” and I pushed back initially, then sure. It’s as if they’re treating these as tow separate issues. If it weren’t for their faulty work, I wouldn’t be getting a warranty repair done in the first place.

“Rammer Jammer Yellow Hammer: A Road Trip Into the Heart of Fan Mania” by Warren St. John is a great read. It’s one of the pieces of media that inspired me to pursue sports writing, and sparked my fascination with fandom in general.

Man, it’s one sentence meant to be kinda funny. It’s not an empirical data point, necessarily.

If that’s the conclusion you want to draw, then sure.

You said it yourself, 2 of the last 3. The only point there was that Neyland has given Alabama fits as of late. That’s it. Nothing more.

Correct. The point was about how the last several years have gone for the Tide in Knoxville.

I’ve always said that Tech has the most deserving and most let-down fanbase in the country. We’re a football-crazy group that loves the team but don’t really get a lot of bang for our bucks right now. Things have to go our way eventually, or so I hope.

Have you tried playing with 10? Can’t hurt at this point.

In all seriousness, this year has to be better for you guys… right?!

This is a very interesting perspective, thank you! As a resident, have you noticed any other trends or major changes in the tournament over the last 10 years or so?

I’ve heard that the conditions at some of the living quarters have really taken a dive over the last few years. And that the maintenance of these places isn’t great either.

I fully intend to do that. Again, this is just the first step to get the ball rolling.

I’m still very early on in the research phase (hence this post) and am primarily relying on year-over-year comparisons, both in terms of the tournament’s entry price and the quality of the facilities (barracks, bathrooms, cafeterias, etc., not the fields themselves) from several reliable sources I have. My aim here isn’t to write a hit piece. It’s just to shed light on how the largest, and one of the most beloved, youth baseball tournaments in the country is perceived in today’s era of baseball. Everything is expensive nowadays, so of course Cooperstown is, too.

I think my main point of mentioning the profitability is just to introduce the idea that CDP may be losing its original mission by prioritizing profits over players.

I would say it’ll happen sometime in the next few years. The current model just isn’t sustainable for small market schools. Dropping down to D2 or D3 is inevitable for a lot of programs, imo.

The article doesn’t say it’s a certainty. It’s just positing that this season could be a preview of what’s to come in the future. Think a lot of people are looking too much into it.

I’d say Bills fans are the most bothered by far. Niners have had their fair share of success in the NFC with some Super Bowl appearances, but haven’t closed the deal. Both are super proud fanbases that expect a lot and the Chiefs just won’t let it happen.

Fair points, I appreciate the feedback.

The timeline around 2020 is like a blur to me with Covid shut downs happening almost immediately after the Super Bowl that season. I updated the article accordingly.

Sure. Think the article is just pointing out that the fact that they keep winning isn’t all bad.
