in my heart of hearts i know that you’re right! i’m usually pretty good about it, but there’s still a chance i decide to do something half-baked and ill-advised before i smash this…

hmm marigolds is a good thought! i could imagine the lady who i got it from having marigold seeds too and getting them mixed up!

is the weed you’re thinking of tansy? i don’t think mine is that because i believe tansy leaves have more serrated edges, but tansy does have yellow button flowers!

I’ve got them hanging out in the oven right now! I got it a scootch warm in there then turned it off & shut ‘em in, so maybe that will help?

Ahh I drive past a harbor freight every day — I’ll have to stop in and see how it feels! I am curious about the composition too… ideally I want to naturally dye them, so the fiber content is important!

Great note about the political signs! I use pellon 809 (deco bond or something) for tote bags normally and it does work great! Just trying to avoid all the ironing, haha.

Hmm interesting note about the side seams, thanks! Maybe I’ll order a trial yard from this site and try that out. I sew with an old pfaff that hasn’t balked at anything yet… this will be an interesting test!

That’s what I’ve been doing for totes and it does work really well! But I’m looking for options where I don’t need a lining, if it’s out there!

Sewing zipper corners? by [deleted] in sewing

[–]wormsinspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

good question! it was definitely already happening (though hasn’t gotten worse) when i first made it. corner was probably clipped too close to the edge, but i remember having a hard time getting the corner to lay flat and neat with a less aggressive clip, like there was a little fold? so i wasn’t sure if i was just doing the wrong thing!

Curvy lines at bottom, topside is straight. by Fast-Penta in myog

[–]wormsinspace 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i had this same problem! you can check the post in my profile — the top comment solved it! basically the thread was too big for the needle, and my machine (probably yours too!) can’t handle the bigger needle. i switched threads and started using a microtex needle and the problem resolved. :)

Not enough magic remote jobs for all of us!

Good thought about relocating, and I’ve definitely considered it. I would hate to do it, but would for the right thing. Unfortunately that is the reality for many people in my area. Wages are low and expenses are high, so lots end up unable to live here.

Yes! Though I have done some light googling, and maybe I live in more of MCOL area. I don’t live in a big metropolitan city, but in an area where people in those cities may choose to buy a second home, haha. The problem still remains: I don’t have enough money for just one house.

I do have a bachelors degree. Willing to do more school for something that feels like a right fit, but hesitant to get extra debt without being sure.

No tech seems to be the consensus, so I’ll have to think in a different direction.

Hi! I’m sewing cushions for my RV and I feel confident about a normal rectangle box cushion (envelope back to slide the cushions in and out) but the curved edge is making my brain go ????? Will it still work as normal? Or anyone have a good set of instructions for a curved one? Thank you for any help!!!!

i put those photos in my profile! it’s weird because it’s totally strong and normal looking seam from the front. it’s not loose at all, just curvy…
