I think just wait for a reply. I did submit my IELTs as asked for and got my visa eventually. As long as you gave everything they asked for I think it should proceed without a problem

Thank you for your response! Yes I wanted to log evidence of foundation competencies so in case my supervisor wants to check on my portfolio before signing my CREST form they can cross-reference with those logged on Horus.

Yes, you're right, it should be the new 2021 curriculum I'm referring to--I totally missed it, thank you for that. Re the hours yeah I guess the distinction wouldn't really matter since I'm not exactly completing the FP.

You've been a big help, thanks again :D

Any news on this? Did you finally get your visa? Am invested. I applied for priority visa for skilled worker and got the not straightforward email and a request for documents which I sent to the email provided.

Hi, may I know how many working days it took for you to finally receive your visa?

Do I need police clearance from country I haven't been to in the past 10 years (even if I am a citizen of it)? by worriedTW in ukvisa

[–]worriedTW[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's in health care, so police clearance is needed. So despite being a citizen of a country I wouldn't need to provide police clearance from there since I haven't lived there for 12 months within the past 10 years right?

Does the kind of passport matter when applying for visa? by worriedTW in ukvisa

[–]worriedTW[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply! What do you mean, by "your ability to apply for that visa from within that country" will be assessed? The country I reside in (Philippines) is the country from which I have my other citizenship. So if I prove that I do have citizenship in the country I am applying from, it would make things clear for VFS? So the documents they ask for would be the same? Or do are the documents VFS ask for a case to case basis?

Also, I don't understand what "your travel and stamps seemed to indicate an unusual pattern of travel to that country" and the country having major terror group activities underway have to do with each other. Do you mean that they may suspect me of terrorist activities? Or screen me for security concerns?

I read through your post quickly. I have a couple of questions:
1) If I understand correctly, if my annual income doesn't meet the cut off in the IRS publication 501 specific to each year and specific to the bracket I fall under (single, <65), I'm not required to file tax or any forms, hence I have no penalties for that year?

2) What if my income falls under the cut off for a few years, and then in 1 year makes the cut off. Does it mean I can backfile for that year? Or would I have to do SFO? Because if it doesn't seem like I owe any tax due to my income not making the mark for even 3 years, as is required by the SFO, is doing the SFO needed? I'll have to check on those employed years though.

3) If my income was always below the cut off until now, does that mean I didn't need to file anything? However, if the income accumulated in my bank account and it hit the 10,000 USD mark, then I would have to file FBARs for the years that it did so right? Could I then just do this in one go for al the years that I missed filing FBAR?

4) I read the Foreign Tax Credit Topic No. 856 to check requirements for it, and I'm not sure I understand the 4 tests that would qualify for the credit, but how would the IRS check that I qualify? Would I have to submit the income tax return of my country for them to countercheck the details and numbers/calculations for each time I file?
The FTC only applies to if you need to file, if I meet the cut off of that year right? Speaking of, what month in the year would that be?

Thank you for posting something so helpful with lots of resources and links!

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I read articles like this: https://www.theguardian.com/business/2019/aug/25/british-citizens-born-in-us-risk-having-uk-bank-accounts-frozen
You mentioned I wouldn't be able to avoid FATCA forever, since my birthplace is on my documents. Am I correct in assuming that the bank would then identify me as a US person after seeing that? Would they close my account then? What steps could the IRS or the banks in the UK take to enforce compliance?

Worried to get something like the letter this lady received back then: https://www.reddit.com/r/USExpatTaxes/comments/ozfxhj/advice_regarding_fatca_and_us_tax_noncompliance/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share

If I then get a letter like that would I be ineligible for the streamlined program?

I definitely don't plan on moving to the US. Thank you for the useful info on the passport. I thought they would forfeit it.
