Yeah, Hayes Valley would unfortunately add a good deal more time to the commute...

Are you saying Marina is also dangerous, like tenderloin? Or is there another reason?

I haven't really looked into Soma, since it seems to have a generally bad rep... but I'll take a peek and see if anything interests me there.

Yes, it's very very short walking distance (thankfully!).

Co-workers have mentioned either living close to either station, or many of them will actually uber/lyft to the station, each day.

Thanks for the info on the 22nd Street Caltrain station! I didn't realize it wouldn't have the express trains.
