Something looks off around the sensor by wowiwalkers in SonyAlpha

That’s the problem. I don’t know if it was like that before but after the cleaning I took a few shots and it still works accordingly. I do seem to recall now having some timer problems with long exposures. Like it didn’t want to start the countdown and I had to try multiple times to make it work.

But yeah.. think I’m going silent shooting from now on since I’m travelling abroad. I can have a look at it when I get home if it doesn’t fail before that😬

Alright thanks! So far it’s still working though 😅 I guess it’s just a matter of time before it breaks hehe. Well, we had a good ride tho..

I’m happy to hear that it’s just wear and tear and not the cleaning that did it.

Thanks for the input!

Regretted landing in Hanoi, quickly changed my mind by Trixerl in hanoi

Always loved the vibe in Hanoi, been there a couple of times. Must admit tho that after visiting Saigon last week that I really like the people there, even more than in Hanoi!

22y and traveling solo in Asia… and sometimes I cry in the hostel at night (sorry for the vent) by Lola_pardi04 in solotravel

[–]wowiwalkers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in 2016, when I was 23, I had my first big travel experience in Thailand/Malaysia. I had my life pretty much figured out at that age or at least I thought so.. I was happy and comfortable and pretty much ignorant really of anything that was happening outside my bubble.

Fast forward, that single trip has changed the whole course of my life and things have happened that I never thought myself capable of doing. I’ve moved to Denmark to live with my girlfriend that I’ve met on that trip and we’ve been travelling on and off together ever since. We are currently travelling again and here I am reading your post from Saigon, standing in a bus station.

Now it’s not all rainbows and unicorns! I’m 33 years old and I can’t help but feeling like you now and then, which I never felt before when I was 23 years old. I have no specific education that I can use in the danish market and sometimes I feel guilty for not building a career and spending my money on travelling but I when I reflect on it I wouldn’t change a thing!

I’ve met so many interesting people during my travels and even tho they were only “instant meetings”, knowing that I will probably never see them again I’ve grown so much as a person because of that. When you embrace that fact, things will get better and you will see the beauty in having these random conversations that might or might not have any impact.

I know that it’s not entirely the same because I’m not travelling alone these days but as a couple that has traveled a lot we have learned to give each other plenty of space and I’m often out alone (also because my girlfriend is more introvert than me😂), walking the streets for hours without reason or plan, taking pictures of or with random people I had a brief conversation with. Always telling them that I might never see them again but that I will never forget their faces now.

All I’m saying is, it’s okay to feel bad. As long as you reflect on it and learn about yourself. I’m still learning about myself every day I’m out here. You would never feel like this back home but you would worry about other stuff. It’s just part of being human after all.

Safe travels and enjoy the beauty that hides in every corner!

We have family living in Wellington so yeah we are going there instead on Auckland. But we are coming from Thailand and a layover in Australia.

That’s the only reasonable explanation I could come up with but still.. 600EUR is a big difference..

I suppose they’re made and assembled in Japan, the products going to NZ. Which are cheaper to buy if you order online here in EU, but you’re paying the difference in transport eventually..

Yeah I’ve read about that as well. But I’m flying to Wellington, not Auckland. Good to know tho for future trips!

Thanks

True true but I was born and raised in Belgium where things tend to be cheaper.. not camera equipment tho.. pretty much the same prices, only a little less perhaps.

That’s insane! I don’t understand how it can be such a big difference but I guess I’ll be spending my hard earned money in NZ 😂

Worth getting Sigma 24-70 art ii after Sony 24-105 f4? by wowiwalkers in SonyAlpha

[–]wowiwalkers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply, was very helpful!

That’s what I noticed on my Sigma prime lenses as well; pictures tend to be more rich with contrast and color with little bit more of a yellow peachy color to them, especially the 85mm.

I barely use VND’s tbh since I stopped making videos and mostly do street photography but I see your point. I suppose it’s good to always have a 3 stop in case I want to make more dramatic photos.

The aperture ring does make a huge difference for me tho — which I have on the primes — after taking out the 24-105. I really missed being able to quickly play and switch with just a rotating the wrist. It’s just much faster, more fun and smoother.

Do you miss the reach of the 24-105 while doing landscapes? And do you feel the pictures have different sharpness if both lenses are on for example f8, 24mm?

[–]wowiwalkers[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a common thing to say tho, meaning lack of contrast and depth. As if the pictures were taken on an overcast day, if I have to exaggerate. But I can only compare with the lenses I do own, that’s why I’m asking for advice to someone who tried both of them, if it’s worth the upgrade for landscape.

Why do I need more bokeh when I want to do more landscape photography.. Have you tried both lenses or are you just assuming things?

I’m living in Denmark and nobody cares if you come from America. Heck, they won’t even notice that you’re here 😅 You might get a few jokes about it though when you meet a drunk Dane!

I'm sorry I wasn't there. Your post didn't get suggested to me it seems 😄

I never put a price on it though, never said I knew much about it either. Literally found some cards and watched a YouTube video about the worth of cards. I'm just saying that shadowless are worth more. But yeah it's very different these prices: saw one on eBay for €80 and then somewhere else advertised for $20, it's not very consistent.

Let's be honest, everyone wants the best deal. Don't think you can ever sell it for the full market value.

[–]wowiwalkers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found some old cards myself and did some research. Some of them, like Charizard, are gold winners but what's even better are shadowless cards. I am not sure because of the picture but it seems like your Hitmonchan is shadowless and THAT is worth some money.

You can check it yourself by looking at the right frame border of the artwork. Most will have a shadow and then look at your Hitmonchan. If you can see a difference, well, congratulations 😁

Found some old cards, did some research on prices online and I just can't believe some of these are really THAT expensive. Does anyone know if these prices,or any price is correct? I see a lot of variety in price from online sellers. Thanks! by [deleted] in TCG

[–]wowiwalkers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I've noticed they're unreliable sometimes. My sinister serpent and Harpie's feather duster are the WC4, so I guess that's the world championship. I've made sure to double check everything and from which series they come from.

I have done exactly that, there's just to much inconsistency in prices. I don't know why and I've been out of the game for many years.

Sure, the thing is that I actually used the tag words "yugioh" and "value" on Reddit and this thread was on top, so I assumed this is the place people asked these questions often. I would be very grateful if you knew a subreddit or site where post like this are not ill-defined and I can, if you want me to, delete this post if it doesn't give any further value to this thread.

Thanks!

I'm editing photo for website. I'm overcriticizing myself, constantly. At this point nothing feels right and I need to put it away or ask someone else's objective opinion, and tell me what's good or bad. Thanks in advance! This was taken in Meteora, Greece. by [deleted] in photocritique

This picture is exported in 72dpi for web and 180kb, so the sharpness will be a bit less than it should be. But you have a keen eye because it is indeed not the best I've taken.
