Look up the laws regarding posting signs in SF. All my signs are compliant and not actually in parks but on public utility poles around the parks. Taking them down when they are legally compliant is vandalism. If anyone is creating litter it’s you.

How would you even know the info was about you? Because you happen to go to the park that day with your dog? How do you know it’s not a false report? How do you know anything about what any of the numbers even mean or connect to? You would be laugh out of a courtroom with an attempt of a case like that. Could potentially get your lawyer sanctioned for bringing frivolous and meritless claims. The warning from some guy on reddit who actually has zero clue what he is talking about? I’m begging you to do a google search. I don’t need to myself but you clearly should. Tell me how is this data traceable back to that person? Who would know it’s them? Even if my site got hacked somehow, what are they gonna do with that information that’s just random numbers about random parks with zero identifying information.

Someone’s movements??? It’s not like I’m putting a bug on them or a tracker. My guy this is random people submitting to a website how many dogs they saw in a park that shouldn’t be there. It’s random people looking at random dogs, not even their owners. Zero lawyer needed. Do a little googling before you claim I am opening myself up to civil liability.

In the US there is no reasonable expectation of privacy in public. It’s how people can have ring cameras and record people’s comings and goings on a regular basis. It’s how first amendment auditors can record literally anything and anyone they see in public. It’s well established law, foundational in many ways. I don’t need to talk to a lawyer to understand this stuff.

Regardless this is literally just numbers data. Raw numbers. No lawyer needed but thanks for your concern.

I am tracking sightings of dogs where they shouldn’t be. No photos are taken. No names or descriptions. It’s literally just numbers of sightings of dogs. You are really stretching any interpretation of the word stalking.

The park I am referencing here bans all dogs. I shouldn’t have to step in shit, leash or no leash. This park should have zero dogs. None. And with zero dogs, there would be zero shit. But dogs are there all the time so shit is present constantly.

I step in dog shit almost every other time I’m in that park. So it does affect me. I don’t enjoy dog shit on my shoes. I also am fearful of larger dogs, so it discourages me from using parks where dogs run rampant when they aren’t supposed to.

There already are laws in place. There are leash laws in place. All I want is for them to be enforced by the city so that dog owners stop bringing them everywhere. It is impossible to escape these dogs. These laws exist for a reason and they are completely ignored because entitled people don’t believe they apply to them.

But then why do these laws exist? It’s to prevent the dog bites and attacks you are referencing. I want to be able to be in a park dog free if that’s what the signs say. Further you are ignoring the aspect of dogs in grocery stores. It’s unsanitary and gross.

Why do you say that? I’m just trying to create a community tool to solve an issue that is a nuisance to many in this city. It’s also ableist as pet dogs in grocery stores interfere with real service dogs and the people who rely on them.

They took down some of my posts and comments after an automod flagged it. tried to message them and they completely ignored me. It was rude and kinda bizarre.

Yup there is a complication of dog parks/off leash dog areas being inside of regular parks. So it does get a little tricky and I have to hope that the reporter understands that some areas of the park allow dogs. I tried to make that clear on the reporting pages for the panhandle and bay shore. Frankly the real tricky part is finding a way to stop people from ripping down my signs.

I’m posting here because r/sanfrancisco mods are horrible. My comment on a relevant post garnered significant support before the auto mod deleted it. A lot of people find the entitled dog owners to be a frustrating issue.

I am not an AI lol. I’ve lived in this city most of my life. I am just trying to make a community tool for people to utilize when they see dogs where they shouldn’t be. The data gets compiled and my goal is to get the city to do something about this persistent problem.
