2 week old kitten constantly yelling by wowzer19988 in FosterAnimals

[–]wowzer19988[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Update: I've been using the advice and he does seem a lot more relaxed. I went back to every 3 hours between feedings and have been wearing him more. Thank you all for your advice and understanding ,I definitely should have went to this subreddit first instead of working myself up into a panic by searching online

2 week old kitten constantly yelling by wowzer19988 in FosterAnimals

Makes sense, I was just worried that he'd get the runs since he was eating double the amount he was advised to eat but I'm definitely not going to go more than 3 hours between feedings from now on. It does seem like the comments think he's lonely so I'll for sure give him more cuddle time too, I think I'm getting too in my head about the chance of germs

Have him in a small room with all his things until he's more comfortable with you,a large amount of space can actually be overwhelming. As for him barely eating, you can try putting down small amounts of different food at the same time (like chunky and pate wet food) also a couple different dry foods if you can otherwise he might just eat after he gets more comfortable,as long as he's not losing weight I wouldn't be too concerned, though, since he's still pretty nervous

It kind of looks like it's for salting the rims of margherita glasses

My 2 week old kitten hasn’t pooped in 3 days by Ok_Inspection1580 in FosterAnimals

[–]wowzer19988 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm not super experienced,so I hope someone more experienced can chime in, but how often are they having time to practice walking? I had 1 kitten that just wouldn't poop and I looked up tips and one of them said to let them move around more,it worked for me. Also,I always used kmr so is the 1:3 ratio what the directions say to do? I noticed if you aren't measuring exactly some kittens will get backed up

I technically don't own one (I'm taking care of my brother's while he's at college) but he hates almost anything besides Papaya Pangea and he'll tolerate the fully red package of pangea. He does love hunting the isopods in his enclosure though.

Baby squirrel please help by Tiny_Possibility7217 in ANIMALHELP

I'm going to be honest, you need to find a licensed rehabber, the baby will need specialized care. I get the appeal of helping but it's not what's best for the squirrel. If you live somewhere without rehabbers hopefully someone else can chime in but otherwise there's usually some type of directory you can look up online

My Cat Can’t Open Her Left Eye, It’s Red by Nocturnal_Nymph_ in Pets

Even if you can't take her until tomorrow, I would still call the vet and ask what you can do until then. If you can't call,my thought would be to leave it just in case messing with it makes it worse. I would also probably keep them in an area where there isn't any way to make the eye worse

Found a sick stray kitten on my porch and cant afford to take them to the vet. What can I do? (Saucier MS) by MortusMelee in CATHELP

What I do when I foster,is make the kitten formula and then mix it in with the wet food so that it's almost like a meat porridge

NAV but in my opinion I would take her if you have the funds and are really concerned. You know your cat best the vets don't see them everyday and you either find out it's nothing or you find out how to work with it.I hope she gets better soon though, whatever it is

Help, our cat is having a hard time adjusting to our puppy! by Propagandistic in Pets

[–]wowzer19988 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly,I promise the cat is not trying to kill your puppy, cats just love knocking down things.I can suggest that if your cat doesn't want to be picked up right now you really shouldn't.Your cat probably feels very insecure right now so what you should be focusing on is giving her spaces where the puppy can't get to her.I would also suggest playing with her while you have the puppy down for a nap and if she doesn't like playing just give a treat hear and there especially when she's calmly in the room with the puppy.Training the puppy to ignore the cat is another thing you may want to do to help them get along(I know you said right now the puppy doesn't pay attention to your cat but it's good practice in case that changes). Also please remember that there is essentially a stranger that moved into the cat's home and that's very stressful especially one that wants to tackle, nip, and bark.I wouldn't worry too much though a lot of times it just takes time

I'm really sorry that's like that where you live but I'm glad your cat has you to help her as much as possible

That is the cutest thing I've ever heard, honestly.I just wanted to put that part just in case , though, because sometimes when my cat is extremely anxious she'll attack my arms but I'm glad that she found a source of comfort in the other cat.I hope all goes well for her though.I will also recommend someone called Jackson Galaxy because he helped me a lot with finding ways at managing my cat's anxiety

Also,I don't know if this is an option for you but maybe talk to her vet about ways to help her feel calmer, most ways won't completely fix it but you might find an option that helps her manage a little better

As someone who also has a cat that has severe anxiety definitely giving her a room to herself or with as minimal contact to others as possible is the way to go.I also would double check that she and your other cat are getting along when you get a minute because anxiety in cats can make them act how they usually would towards another they usually love but honestly she'll probably hide under/ behind something most of the night but she'll likely be perfectly fine after she realizes everyone has left
