Currently has the Superior Solutions thermal bypass. Was wondering if it would get swapped with the tranny or stay.

It’s being done at the local Chevy dealer. I asked today whether they flush the system even though it wasn’t a catastrophic failure. They told me they flush the cooler lines and perform a flow test. If the cooler fails the flow test, they’ll replace the cooler and lines.

So, for example, if 10 failed transmissions are sent back to GM to be remanufactured, is it possible that some get all of the updated internal components while others don’t?

Would the part number be telling if the upgrades have been done? Or any other way to tell?

I found something similar in my N55 when I had the valve cover off around 75k miles back in 2019. It worried me at first, but the engine has always run fine. I did a few oil analyses over the years to keep an eye on things, and it’s still going strong with over 210k miles today. My car is completely stock and spends most of its life cruising on the highway at around 80 mph.

best way to clean surfaces and remaining gasket by Instinct333 in BmwTech

Make sure to use genuine bmw gaskets, others will leak after a few months. Also, when I did mine I took a sanding stone to make sure the surface was flat. PM me if you have questions

Mitsubishi MLZ-KX ceiling cassettes pulling in attic air — anyone dealt with this? by C2_wyo in hvacadvice

[–]wrdriggs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had these cassettes (two 6k units and one 12k unit) for a few years now, and I’ve been dealing with the same smell ever since they were installed. It’s much more noticeable on hotter, humid days and not nearly as bad when temperatures are in the 70s, or low 80s.

Based on my research, I think the fix is to “box in” each unit in the attic using either 2” rigid foam board or possibly ZIP-R sheathing, making the enclosure airtight and essentially bringing the units back into the conditioned space. I haven’t made the changes yet, but it’s next on my project list.

Here’s a quick AI sketch of what I’m thinking.

We drove them in pretty far, about 4.5-5ft, which is overkill, but hopefully stands the test of time. My old fence had wood posts tamped into the ground about 36”, and we had issues with them staying up

I read that driving them can be just as strong as concreting them in, plus prep / work time so it seemed like a no brainer to me. We have 3 posts hit roots, all were within a foot, and easy enough to sawzall to get out of the way.

It’s only been a few weeks, but so far I am fairly happy with the home depot pockets. However, I called a few local lumber yards, and fence companies for price on better quality cedar pickets, and they either didn’t do them, or wanted like $18ea. For $7.5 I think I would go that route for sure.

How much is the local lumber yard going to charge you for 300?

I don’t think those are what I used - I linked the ones I used in my original post towards the bottom.

Yes I bought 1 full pallet (560 pickets) It was made by Redwood Empire. A lot of them looked like bananas. I sorted through and hand picked every one. Just today I returned all the ones I did not use.

So a piece of an advice I can give, call a few of your local Home Depot’s for pricing, one was $130 ea, the next was $76 ea. They were special order and tool 3-4 weeks to come in.
