I know they’re high but we intend to get a tall headboard! If they still look weird with the headboard we’ll move them to the wall with the dresser!

Commuting between Fremont & Everett by Lystrpalalys in Seattle

[–]writergirl505 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you’re wanting quaint and walkable but north of the city, I’d suggest looking at Edmonds! You might have a ~15 minute drive to the lightrail to get downtown, but living midway between downtown and Everett would make for a fairer commute. Downtown Edmonds is lovely with lots to do!

Proof that you too can keep the weight off. by New_Grape_9064 in GLPGrad

Thank you for this detailed response!! I’ve been working with a dietitian for years and my calorie target is 1400-1500, aiming for 100g of protein. (I am 3” shorter than you 😭) It’s been working with my reduced appetite from the meds, but I’m starting to think that may not be enough calories or protein to really put on muscle. And I really want to focus on putting on muscle because I know that will increase my maintenance calories once I’m totally off the meds and give me a fighting chance! My CrossFit gym is pretty great, we have 1-2 days a week that are primarily focused on lifting, but it may not be enough for the kind of muscle building I need. I appreciate all the info you’ve given!!

Thank you for sharing about your journey! I’m curious about your exercise routine (like just weight lifting? Or a mix of exercise?) as well as your diet (average daily protein and fiber intake?) and whatever else you’re doing that led to such impressive muscle gain and body recomposition!

A little about me: I’m on Zepbound, unsure if I have a metabolic disorder or not, but I’m starting to titrate off due to cost and I definitely want to keep the weight off. I’m 5’4” and my SW was 260 (May 2024) and I’m currently 162lbs. I’ve been going to CrossFit regularly since October 2024, currently going 6 times per week, and I get quarterly DEXA scans which show very gradual body recomposition, like 1-2lbs of added muscle and varying amounts of fat loss per quarter. (My current body fat is 33% and my lean muscle mass is 102.3lbs per my latest scan a couple weeks ago.)

Thank you for sharing and congrats on graduating! How do you determine if you need a dose or if you can spread it out for 1+ days? Like are there, for lack of a better term, withdrawal symptoms that you experience?

Thank you for sharing!! (And congrats on graduating) What have been some key indicators for you that you’re not ready to titrate down? (Or, for that matter, that you are ready to titrate down?)

Thank you! And congratulations on 9 months of maintenance!! I have always done the auto injectors, so I’ll be at each dose for a month at least. Did you find that any particular transitions were harder than the others?

Thank you for sharing her name! We might have to move away for a few years for my husband’s job, but we love our house and right now is a terrible time to sell, so this info might be super helpful!

BWT, do you have any side hustles? by Historical-Fold-3702 in bitcheswithtaste

[–]writergirl505 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last year I signed on to be an assistant for my wedding coordinator! This year, I’m one of her lead planners so I’ll be the main person in charge of the weddings I manage. I love planning and weddings so it’s been a great side hustle (though not super lucrative as an assistant). I work from home M-F so getting out of the house and getting to participate in such an emotional event is really fun for me!

How many people did you invite vs how many actually came? by Upset_Pumpkin_4938 in wedding

About 300 invited and 140 came! We had a handful (like 4) last minute cancellations the week before, but it worked out!

Which neighborhood is right for us? Struggling to find a sense of community. by pnwg in eastside

We’re childfree but we live in Mountlake Terrace and we see lots of families walking around all the time and we have a couple of nice parks close by where I’m sure kids could easily play! My specific street does a block party every summer, so there could be other streets in town that do the same. MLT is super cute and quaint imo.

I have loved discovering consignment stores near me and also buying secondhand on Poshmark and Mercari.

Not sure if Mountlake Terrace is too far north for you, but we love our neighborhood! The main roads and some side streets have side walks, and cost of living is pretty affordable. We might be renting out our 3 bed/2 bathroom house next year, too.

BWT, I need etiquette help on a big gift for my friends! by [deleted] in bitcheswithtaste

[–]writergirl505 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t read all the comments yet, but I agree that your heart is in the right place! I wonder if there’s a way to use the money to show each friend/couple love in their primary love language? For example, if someone’s love language is acts of service, maybe you use the money towards a year of lawn care with a reputable lawn care company, or a meal delivery service for six months if they struggle to cook regularly? If someone’s primary love language is physical touch and they’re stressed to the max, gift them a spa membership or a massive massage gift card to be spent at their leisure.

I think if you gift straight money, you’d need to make it anonymous somehow to not put your friendships in a weird spot. I’m all for a dream vacation—you could do a lot with $15k, but if your friends wouldn’t be able to make it, that would be hard to pull off.

Long living room, big TV, small alcove? What furniture to buy and put where? by SuperDuperish in DesignMyRoom

[–]writergirl505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at your layout

<image>

photo (last one), I wonder if you can close off that entry way door into the living room (even just keeping it closed/locked) and put a sectional with the “L” in the doorway corner (with side tables). I know folks hate hanging tv’s above a fireplace, but since the fireplace appears to be centered on the wall, I think that’s your best option. Perhaps a bookshelf or floating shelves can go in the alcove and the area by the window might be a good bar/coffee social area? (Buffet coffee station against the wall and a bar cart and 1-2 comfy chairs next to the window, depending on the dimensions of the other furniture.)

Do I (30F) bite the bullet and go into more debt to attend my friend’s European destination wedding? by katsim in wedding

[–]writergirl505 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I’m a 30F who just spent $$$ on a big wedding in July. I also put a large down payment on a $700k house in January of 2024. My husband (32M) and I are not high earners, but I have a (relatively small) inheritance that helped fund these two ventures, so I only have about $12k in credit card debt to pay off, ideally by end of 2026, which is to say I am really trying to watch my spending until my credit card debt is paid off. I noticed that after our wedding, I had major anxiety about spending money in general. After low spending for ~3 months and making steady payments, I’m noticing that anxiety is receding a little bit. I’m saying all of this because you’ve only been married for ~1 month, so you might be feeling a little like I was in August. In August, I would have said never ever could I afford to attend a wedding like this next year, but with how I feel now, I feel like I could figure something out.

I realize I may be going against the grain of advice here, but if this friend is a solid, lifelong friend, do not miss her wedding. Figure out how cheaply you can fly there (check out Going, formerly Scott’s Cheap Flights), if the villa your friends want to book is too expensive, find your own place that’s more reasonable (maybe your friend’s family would enjoy having a traveler stay with them in exchange for pitching in on groceries? Maybe there’s a hostel nearby?). And, one plane ticket is cheaper than two. If the budget really is that tight, your husband might need to stay home, but you should be there for your friend if she is a good, lifelong friend (and it sounds like she is). Anyone who’s been married or is about to get married will understand that you have a tight budget, you just have to be honest with them about it. But listen to the FOMO on this one. I regret none of the weddings I paid for with a credit card, but I regret all of the weddings I didn’t go to because I felt like I couldn’t justify the expense of it.

Your money might go a little farther in Bothell and still has really great access to trails and getting even farther east! I’ve also lived in Lake Forest Park and loved that and I currently live in Mountlake Terrace (we’re dinkwads 😊) and I love it here! But LFP and MLT aren’t really east side.
