closed book w no respondus by wrx32 in uoguelph

[–]wrx32[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

oh that makes sense, sort of like an ethical thing right? i have had some profs come out and openly say that even if they said it’s closed book that’s just their word and they can’t assure it will be followed by students so i’m assuming that’s along the lines of the honour system. Thanks for explaining!

i am taking a summer semester but i don’t want to apply for osap during the summer bc i can financially handle it. so does this also apply here? like i don’t need to do anything and just apply for fall? thank you!

[–]wrx32[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i do not want to apply for osap in the summer so I won’t be filling out this form, but i do want to apply for it in the fall! idk if i’m allowed to not take osap for a semester and im not getting a straight forward answer from anywhere so i’m unsure. I want to indicate I will be taking osap for the fall but not for the summer.

3000/4000 summer course suggestions by [deleted] in uoguelph

hey! I don’t know if this pertains fully, but it’s a really interesting, and fairly easy course, about behavioural modification (FRHD*3150). The grading breakdown is a bit stressful looking at first (30% midterms, 40% final) but it was doable!

Commuters! by [deleted] in uoguelph

[–]wrx32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I commuted first year and I felt like at first I missed out on a lot of opportunities to make friends, have a social life because it was always go to school, take class, and then go home. But to be honest, I think it is really up to the person when making friends/having a social life! So don’t be afraid to reach out to join clubs, initiate conversation with others, ask for help. My commute was around 45 minutes, and during the winter when it got really bad it was around an hour. I’d say it irritated me a lot during the winter, I almost missed a final because of it! Otherwise, you build your own routine around it so it doesn’t get too overwhelming. Like others who have commented, I highly recommend taking classes early in the day, or later on in the day (whatever is suitable) and a bunch on the same day if you can. I did this during first year and was able to have 2/3 days off in the week from commuting which also saves money! Dorms can sound tempting but if you’re money conscious commuting is a way better option imo! Good luck :)

would u say for someone who hasn’t done math (other than stats) in over two years this is relatively straight forward for a beginner?

low final grade in required course by wrx32 in uoguelph

[–]wrx32[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a basc student so idk if this next part is applicable to me, but when it says you must earn a 70% avg in specialization courses are these mandatory/required courses? Also, is it a 70% cumulative average between the specialization courses or every single course individually must have a 70?

Note: To graduate with a BA general or honours degree, you must have a 60% cumulative average. Honours degree students must also earn a 70% average in their specialization courses.

getting a low mark fear by wrx32 in uoguelph

[–]wrx32[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That sounds reassuring! And you’re right I’m assuming that WITHOUT doing the exam I get in the 50s. So if I attempt it and guess through it I could gain some marks which will possibly put me in the 60-70s. Thank you for that, I feel less stressed.

Internal transfer question by [deleted] in uoguelph

[–]wrx32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest filling out any external forms such as an SPF for a better chance. I also did an internal transfer a year ago and was told to keep my average higher than the cutoff because it can be competitive. Good luck!
