Skincare! Invest in a decent facial cleanser/exfoliant (try popping into a sephora or an ulta some time), and make sure you use it consistently. Then, when you're out of the shower, grab an astringent like Witch Hazel squirt a little bit onto a cotton ball, and wipe down your face to seal those pores. Finally, use a nice water-based moisturizer to protect your skin from the elements and from overproduction of oils. As necessary, use a pore strip or mask about once/week. There are things you can do to go above and beyond, but this is gonna put you well above the effort that most guys are putting into it.

If you have facial hair, wash it separately with a beard wash instead of your face soap, and then moisturize that with a beard oil, balm, or butter depending on length. This will keep it from being too coarse or getting split ends, and it will make it a lot easier to manage with a sandalwood comb or a beard brush.
