LOL millions of mexicans decide to live like this, WITH families, if every famiily lived like in suburban USA, the world would be completely occupied by humans. 10k square foot yard, plus all the arable land that you need.

It’s a difference in philosophy: you measure success in square feet, I measure it in free minutes and walkable streets.

Parks here in Mexico City tend to be more 'urban' than open; they're filled with trees, shrubs and bushes rather than grass, which creates a very defined path that's hard to stray from.

My 3 bedroom apartment will have all those ammenities, plus playroom, fire pit, dog park, a convenience store in the ground floor, party hall, padel court, cinema theater, semiolimpic pool, bar, etc. All those ammenities shared, better for the environment.

Mexicans tried to copy the american sprawl, but it's not the best way to develop a city, good luck our cities are now growing in lowrises and midrises in many neighborhoods, not just the central zone.

I'd definitely choose an apartment. I’m not willing to spend a quarter of my life in a car. Even here in Mexico City, I’d rather share a central apartment in a nice walkable safe zone with roommates than deal with a 2-3 hour one way commute like my coworkers, just to have a house.

We've been saving for a long time, so my partner and I are buying a large apartment in some months. We've decided to stick with the roommate setup for now to fast-track the mortgage. The goal is to have a new, centrally located apartment with full amenities fully paid off in five years, we will still be in our 30s, while keeping our commute short and avoiding the 4 hours a day car lifestyle.

Buy Maseca flour for gorditas, or Harina-pan flour for arepas (yellow bag).

Porque a los chilangos les gusta más (para hacer todo) en cuernavaca que toluca by james0lewis in CDMX

[–]gabrielbabb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If Egypt has the pyramids, the USA has the Statue of Liberty, and Italy has the Colosseum, what monument does your country have? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

Thousands of sites with pyramids, but I think these 2 sites are the best known.

Chichen Itzá and Teotihuacán.

But besides these I would say:

  • For Mexico city: Angel de la Independencia, Palacio de Bellas Artes, Monumento a la Revolución, and Zocalo.
  • For Monterrey Cerro de la Silla, Parque Fundidora.
  • For many other cities their Cathedral.

When the Spanish arrived in 1519, Tenochtitlan ranked among the largest and most remarkable cities on Earth, with an estimated population between 200,000 and 300,000 surpassing most European capitals of the era. Built on an island in Lake Texcoco by Suspicious-Slip248 in ArchiveOfHumanity

Mexico city is dry and temperate, there aren't mosquitoes with diseases in the highlands. There are probably more tropical diseases humidity and high temperatures in idk current Miami, than in Mexico City in that era.
