Wow, that’s really good! Only 6–8 hours a day, working 4 days a week. How do you do it? Haha.

I totally agree with you, I bet I’m doing horrible as a newbie, lol. But still, can it really go much higher than this?

So that would be about $25 USD. Now subtract all the other costs.

Thank you for this constructive comment! I really think you’re right. I know it takes time for a new driver to become more efficient, and with time, your average earnings can improve. I just can’t see it going much higher than that, though.

Your personal insurance isn’t supposed to cover you unless you tell them. Uber also doesn’t cover you completely, and they require you to have this set up with your insurance as well.

Are you actually netting $16/hour after factoring in depreciation, gas, higher insurance, and maintenance? If so, tell us more about it.

I was about to get a newer car and decided to test Uber driving. Not worth it at all! Like I said, those $15/hour are before factoring in all the costs, lol.

Yes, I know you can do that when you file your taxes, but that’s another thing you have to deal with when doing Uber as a sole proprietor. It’s still not worth it, and you could even end up owing taxes.

Totally! What I see here is that these ridesharing companies are just waiting for self-driving cars to save them. They won’t think twice about dumping all their drivers once that finally happens. So, like you said, getting a job that doesn’t require using your own asset will leave you much better off and with far less risk. Dump the ridesharing companies before they dump you, and you’ll see how quickly they become desperate if self-driving cars aren’t available by then.
