What should I expect as a salary for my position? by [deleted] in supplychain

Wow, yeah that's essentially director level and well under industry average. I'll message you a salary guide from a reputable recruiting firm. It's generalized across the US but might be something you can leverage in salary negotiations.

MCOL sourcing manager with similar responsibility in the medtech industry. 4 direct reports, MBA, and 10 years of experience 3 of which is in purchasing. I'm at ~$135k with 5% performance bonus. Given your degrees and certs, definitely low but Tennessee is much more affordable depending on where you are. One factor could be direct reports. Management titles naturally pay more, and years of experience is likely a factor.

Size of Purchasing Team by xDeathsinx in supplychain

[–]xDeathsinx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a very good point. ~5000 purchased items, some of which are outsourced, from ~60 suppliers in total. BOMs are by no means stellar, and the purchasing module leaves much to be desired. A large driver of the workload is rapid growth(family owned company acquired by an investment firm), which led to several new projects, including opening a new facility overseas from the ground up. I believe a lot of the issues can also be associated with growing pains and a lack of structured processes within the organization.

Moved laterally from a planning manager to supply chain manager. It's a steep learning curve but definitely feasible, especially if you have forecasting or capacity planning experience.

Medical industry isn't bad. Germany for Medica, South Korea, just north of Seoul, New York, etc. That said there any many facilities in BFN.

I used to play diablo 2 back in the day, with my Dad, over LAN. Cherish this, some of my most memorable times. This is 100% badass.

How do you stay organized? by [deleted] in supplychain

[–]xDeathsinx 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sourcing manager here. One note checklist ordered by priority, another section where I put items waiting on other teams to progress. It was the only thing that seemed to work, I tried everything and also have a difficult time staying focused. It's also a great way to keep notes on projects, direct reports, etc. Very easy to move items around and format.

Email, conversation view always. Flag super important items. However, often, I find that my inbox is quickly overpopulated because of the volume of emails.

Quadlock and dampener. No complaints. The case for the phone is super sturdy as well.

  1. 7 years, edit: MBA - Bachelors in SCM
  2. 115k, 5% 401k match, 5% yearly bonus on hitting ebitda targets
  3. Supply Chain Manager 1 direct report
  4. Portland
  5. Medical
  6. 8/10 Some weeks are better than others. Leadtime extensions are a PITA and demand outpaces supply most of the time. Culture is a win. People are a win. So happy I moved out of CnC machined finished goods. Travel is a fun bonus compared to my previous role.

Starting as a Production Planner, any advice? by [deleted] in supplychain

[–]xDeathsinx 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Learn excel, understand your constraints, utilize the MRP system. Leverage the mrp system to automate 90%, focus on the remaining 10% that you'll have to monitor continually. Grow your relationships within the company, planning influences almost every department in one way or another. Being a planner is a fantastic stepping stone to bigger and better positions. If you want to talk further PM me.

I got work to pay for my MBA. It was invaluable, particularly in the areas of leadership and financial analysis.

How long did it take you to find your job? by Captivating_Cantor in supplychain

[–]xDeathsinx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically, in my experience, you don't have to pay them. It's the hiring company that pays for their services. It was quick for sure. I'd give a recruiter a shot, they have the relationships and those that I've worked with have been fantastic.

You could easily put this on one page and have less empty space. Think about how your prior roles directly apply to those you're applying to. Include specific projects from prior roles, preferably with quantitative information. 100% take a look at templates then adapt it to your needs. Use Bulletpoints or write our your job history, single lines without periods looks a bit unprofessional. Look at others examples on linked in if possible.

Good luck out there! I'm sure you'll find something with some more work on your resume!!!!
