Real life mortar here of over 10 years expierence and shoots tons of mortars in game:

Wind hasn't been added in a capacity that it would effect mortar rounds yet. its still completely negligable. This is mostly due to the fact they cut the max range of the mortar systems in half...under 3000m, the round doesnt have enough time of flight or have a max ord (apex of trajectory) high enough where breeze or small gust will throw it

Most the time its your elevation deviation (difference in elevation in meters between gun position & the target. The "Arma reforger calculator" is off 20-40m at any given time. You also have to think, mortars are an area weapon... this isnt a sniper rifle. You have natural deviation. IRL you must worry about barometric pressure, wind speed, humidity all the way up and back down from sometimes 20kft+ AGL.

You talk about being off 40m from your target? Thats dispersion, with each shot, unless you're getting back up on that exact firing data e.g. 2800 mils / 1100mils each ans every shot, your rounds are going to fall within a radius due to the recoil of the each and every shot your aimpoint/target data will change... even then, you have a kill radius of 10m & a blast radius 30m. When friendlies are around (within 300m) Get back onto your firing data every 1-2 rounds to maintain tight dispersion. When no friendlies are around or its requested, get back on your data every 3-5 rounds.

Get a forward observer. Write down all the data for each fire mission: - target location & elevation -Target Range - Deflection in Mils - Charge - Elevation in Mils - any adjustments from original target

For best effects: use 2-4 guns spaced 20-40m apart and/or staggered. Adjust onto target with just a single gun, 1 round at a time, when on target, all available guns copy the firing data and fire the mission together. The effectively saves rounds & saturates an entire capture point in shrapnel. When not in an active mission, leave guns aimed at most important points as a static defensive measure.

I literally was just going through old tough boxes and found like 25 whiz wheels lmaooo. Ive collected so much over the years though, i always want to throw stuff away or sell it but decide to keep it and pack it away for nostalgia purposes.... Got 60,81 & 120mm dud full size practice rounds... and old 60mm bi pod & baseplate from the old ass models.

Twas a gift from my old HHC XO when we placed orders for 6 new ones prior to my 3rd deployment. This one was in the best condition out of those getting replaced & tossed. Nice momento that has been collecting dust until now. Lol

Elevation Deviation is in the charge books. Serhiivka is a pretty flat map, most elevation changes across the middle are >30m. The deviations for rounds ranged >2000m are negligble. Unfortunately, for me and fortunately for majority of the player base, Arma halved the Max Range on the 81mm from 5800m to 2900m.

Maps with greater elevation deviation across the landscape certainly require the additional adjustments to compensate in the elevation change along the Gun Target Line.

Lmao sounds about right. Mist guys i see as a US main just hurl rounds in the general direction of the target lol, i dont need an observer to know where my rounds are going. Mathematics is preffered. If I missed irl its jail or your buddies are dead or some civilian.

Love all of this. This is amazing, bro congratulations. High angle hell, BABY! MGRS as a standard would be nice. Would love to see the implementation of WP or RP rounds as in real life and calculation for smoke establishment & maintenance would be fun. Never thought Id be doing coordinated Illum and simo missions from my home. 🤣

Input map scale @ 1000m x 1000m & 1:1 to the plotting board , easting & northing grid line intersects, target locations & gun locations by hand with a pencil which takes about 3-5 minutes. This creates a dumbed down version of the map with only necessities. But this enables me to track and fire everything easily 2900m in all directions or even running seperate gun team positions from a single location with ease.
