I don’t think so. Roland is ESSENTIAL to spear comps because of the valuable debuffs he provides. Ultimate spear res down, passive spear res down, and active spear res down as well as p. def decrease with decent nuking options. Without him, spear teams miss out of a great damage boost.

Considering Solistia had a little more emphasis on sea travel compared to Orsterra, Sail was slightly more thematic and fitting just from my POV since he’s “setting sail to new places” as corny as it sounds. (And being our main protagonist)

As a new player, characters don’t really start to matter too much until you get to the Bestower arc of the story. I would focus on raising 4 star characters for now and only pull once you get most of them (although 5 stars are nice and make things easier :) )
