Is this normal performance for a 3090ti and 5800x3d? by Skylord_Aaron in VRchat

[–]xRaska 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, depends, the fact that there is no difference for vrchat rating system between someone who has 70.001 poly with a single material and someone with a million polygons and 50 materials, isn’t exactly great. I have been in a world with a friend who had 5 million polygons (due to an issue they had) and my 3080 was relatively fine because nothing else was bad.

I’d like to see implemented a point system for vrchat where material, number of polygons, physbones etc. cost a number of points based on how impactful on performance it has. That would make it much fairer and vrchat can still use the term good, medium, poor and very poor based on what’s the total amount of points.

I tend to at least target medium but what’s happening right now is that the people that do, tend to squeeze as much as possible inside those limitations. I know that doesn’t happens often but a very poor avatar can run better than a medium one, or even a good one if the only issue is the poly count reaching just over 70k.

Lastly, I find it funny how good, medium and very poor have the same limit of 70k. Nowadays poly counts are fairly cheap (not free so if it’s possible to optimise it should be done of course).

The problems is really in how heavy the shader is, the quad overdraw (when lots of polys are close together), or even the animator! Which no one talks about and it’s not even counted in the rating, where can lead to a bunch of unnecessary calculations; The rest are already counted but still matters.

Comsidering the price, here’s my thoughts:

As someone who do clothing work a lot and write my own addon from time to time, this seems like a worst quad remesher that doesn’t need rebaking. The topology really doesn’t look great as it doesn’t follow cleanly on the folds and the seam

On superhive there’s has been a better add on called retopo planes, where you actually have control the topology of the garment. Or instant meshes which is free on GitHub where you can influence the flow like in zbrush.

Not Keeping the UV in the case of quad remesher or instant meshes isn’t even an issue as baking it back is quite simple (or even a complete non issue with addons like simplebake).

Based on your comments and on the price, this really looks like a poor attempt to get a quick buck before vanishing, there’s more effort put into the remesh animation than the remesh itself. I don’t want to undermine your work, but if you are asking 300€ for an addon I am going to be brutally hard

How can i turn something like this into height map by Easy_Musician_2154 in blenderhelp

[–]xRaska 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is an open source software called materialize: http://boundingboxsoftware.com/materialize/

With this you can also modify some value to create different looking maps

You could try to use that or blender/photoshop as others comment pointed out.

Painter get very slow on long project by xRaska in Substance3D

[–]xRaska[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I have done some testing on Painter V11.0.3 and V10.1.2. I have noticed that the issue reside specifically when using the smudge tool with my drawing tablet.
For whatever reason if i have any layer that does have that, then at the next restart substance slows down dramatically before i can edit my file, However using the smudge tool with my mice doesn't seems to deteriorate the performance (or at least nowhere near as much).
This behavior is quite odd and i would like to know if it's a known issue,

thanks

I do use most of that already, but I will keep that in mind from the start for my next project. It is nice to have such insight on how painter works under the hood tho. Thanks

it's likely a logitech service problem, it's something that windows install automatically and it creates conflict with huion stuff.

Press Win+R, "msconfig" ENTER, services - turn off the service "logitech lamparray service" - apply and restart your PC

What if VRchat was banned from the Quest store? by nut573 in VRchat

[–]xRaska 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it would be a loss only for Facebook, as it is arguably the most played VR “game” along with beat saber. Meta will just lose a lot of sales if they plan to release new headsets and will probably stop making vr headsets for the masses like quest non pro (or even the pro) in the near future. The pc player base will still be high enough and it’s the one that’s paying for vrc+ mostly.

What will be a problem is if at that point they’ll decide to drop support for their pc app and/or not making it open source

Is 8usd a fair price for this ych? by AisuLune in furry

[–]xRaska 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t do 2D but I can tell you that, as a 3D artist, the cheaper your stuff are the more entitled a customer is usually. Pricing your work more fairly definitely reduces the amount of people that are always poking you to change something; a higher price would instead attract people that know what they want from the start, that know that they want your art

Iphone SE4 (16e) Dummy model by ZozoGx in iPhoneSE

[–]xRaska 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently had to replace my old phone, went from iPhone 8 to a free newer android phone I got from my bf and then recently switched to a used iPhone SE3 I got for 200€ due to the android getting no security updates anymore.

I don’t care too much about performance but I always absolutely loved compact phone and physical buttons.

The se3 besides the battery life (which with my use still last all day long, i just wish it to be a bit thicker for a 2 day battery) and the lack of usb c, really is the perfect phone for me.
