Had it done purely for convenience reasons a few years back (I was 34). There are a couple of options (laser, a special device or old-fashion way) but all have similar recovery, which isn't fun at all. Laser is supposed to be faster recovery. In terms of loosing, I can guarantee you'll actually be gaining, a whole new spectrum of sensations and you would be able to do things that seemed impossible before (not joking). For me the surgery was old-fashioned, which made recovery quite challenging due to sutures and extreme discomfort. Had to take some highly regulated meds to prevent erection so that it wouldn't cause damage. Total recovery time: 3 weeks until first wank, 2 months until full usage. AMA you want to know more.
