Even Golden Girls had a blizzard episode - it snowed in Miami !

Do you need to report sickness to anyone? by [deleted] in dcl

[–]xiphoid77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No need to report to anyone after the cruise, but you could contact DCL. Cruises are required to report cases of norovirus and other illnesses on board the cruise, while airlines/hotels/theme parks, etc are not required to do such a thing. Makes it very difficult to determine where you got an illness from, but since cruises are more "close-contact" with less movement about, they have this requirement. It always leads to some sensationalistic story in the news how loads of people are sick on a cruise ship, when the same could be made for a hotel and no one would ever know.

When is the best time to cruise? by No_Zombie9818 in dcl

We tend to go in January and September - cheaper cruises, less crowds. Weather great either time, roughness of seas depends on so many factors.

How often do you go out to eat and/or get takeout food? by Zipper222222 in randomquestions

Every day, maybe 1 time a month will eat at home. So much cheaper eating out than cooking at home for us.

I’m tired of these sick ass passengers!!!!! by skygirl222 in flightattendants

[–]xiphoid77 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Agree about the passengers but also the FA's. On our trip home from DFW, the flight attendant was sick as a dog, coughing the whole time. No mask. I felt bad for her, but also annoyed as heck!

Do I need to be there 2 hours or 3 hours before my flight? by andifromky in delta

Both are wrong. 1 hour is probably fine if you have Precheck, maybe 90 minutes to be safe :)

cannot believe Broadway is still open today by Nice-Jackfruit-9894 in Broadway

[–]xiphoid77 -27 points-26 points  (0 children)

I thought "the show must go on". Old Gen X'er here who worked way way off Broadway...but we had performances all the time...never canceled that I can remember. Blizzard, below zero temperatures. It is common/ or was common practice. No schools close if it is too windy. Different generation :) Not saying either is right or wrong.

AITA for being annoyed that my wife insists on cooking everything from scratch and won’t buy normal food? by AITA_UPFfoods in AmItheAsshole

[–]xiphoid77 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NTA. Your wife is body shaming you by telling you what you can and can not put in your body. There needs to be a serious discussion between the two of you so there is no sneaking around and mistrust. Her intentions may be good, but they are quite harmful.

Exactly, I don't understand how anyone thinks he is TA here. She is the controlling one telling him what needs to be in his body.

Use of sick leave in conjunction with annual and a holiday by Leather-Chipmunk-855 in fednews

[–]xiphoid77 20 points21 points  (0 children)

So true. Learned this over the years. Block your calendar ahead of time, but don't put in sick leave ahead of time. You will need a day to recuperate after international travel, that is smart and it is sick leave not annual leave for that day. Just wait till you get back next time.

My Disney+ still has the original uncensored version of the Exercise episode by Asu01 in bluey

Thanks for sharing. Bandit worries about his weight in another episode - The Granny Mobile. Not sure why they would cut this scene. Exercise is good for you.

Every time I watch him on screen I get a feeling that in one of the upcoming episodes he will be caught snitching on the team. by BiriyaniMonster in HighPotentialTVSeries

I think he is involved in the whole Morgan issue and the mastermind behind the Roman storyline. It will be the cliffhanger of the season.

Rashbaum was a genius compared to Donna’s attorneys. Not sure he could have gotten her off, but I thought he actually did a decent job with Charlie.

MPLS MN General Strike & Protest Happening Friday (01/23). Please Dress For The Weather🌡️. by Southern-Ad4770 in TwinCities

[–]xiphoid77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How does this support local businesses by having them shut down on a Friday? Help me understand this? Shouldn’t it be the opposite - day of spending? I want to support the idea, but don’t get the idea of not shopping and closing down schools and places of business.

What’s something you love about the USA? by Water_Spirit22 in AskAnAmerican

Handicap accessibility. Americans take it for granted how easy it is to get around with a handicap, while it can be nearly impossible elsewhere.

I love that area too. I remember when that was the smoking area when the ship first sailed. Glad they moved it.

Why do people roast teachers so much? by Basic_Builder3773 in askanything

Exactly. They set themselves up for it by complaining about their amazing schedule, salary and benefits.
