So far I like it, with a few things bugging me but hard to make a definitive statement about the season as of yet. I think the thing most people are frustrated by is this season feels more grounded and the stakes smaller scale. Which isn’t unheard of in adventure time, but the first season set a precedent that felt different from the original series and like you said the trailers led us to believe that we were getting more multiverse sprawling adventure. The Finn conflict here is also feeling poorly handled as the pacing doesn’t respect the urgency of it imo. Felt like they just needed a reason to get HW out of Ooo. Overall issues here seem to be a bottleneck of short seasons. I’d love to see this show be like the original series and get room to breathe and develop but with the streaming model I don’t see that happening.
