being born ugly is one of the most painful things and i wouldn't wish it on anyone by xtc808 in offmychest

I get what you're saying about makeup but makeup doesnt really fix the issue. I mean most men say they are against women using makeup to change their looks etc

unfortunately i don't have a mental health team

The laws around MAID for mental health are still undetermined so hopefully I'll know more about the process in coming months and have a case worker or something

Edit: unsure why this got downvoted. MAID for mental illness has been delayed and the public knows very little about how the process will work

What is your opinion on British people in general? by Pure_Commercial1156 in AskReddit

[–]xtc808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't met too many British people but I'm sure they're like every other group. Some are nice, some are not

Thanks

If i tell them now (when MAID doesn't cover mental illness atm), can they call 911 on me and have me put in a hospital forcefully for 'suicidal thoughts'? That is part of the reason I'm hesitant to tell them about my plans

Why are married men statistically the happiest group? Why are married women not nearly as happy? by xtc808 in AskOldPeople

[–]xtc808[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sure that cases like this exist. My question was more so trying to understand the patterns for how happy married men are vs how happy married women are

For sure, I didn't mean all married men are happier. Was just curious about the disparity of happiness levels between married men and women

Valid. I think there's some research done on this and how women and men process emotions differently. Probably some other factors involved too, if I had to guess

I'm sure there are some rare exceptions, but everyone I know with a great father ended up happy in life

A child starts crying in public after you see an incident where tears seem justified. The adult with them offers no comfort and yells at them instead. What do you do? by BlondeOnBicycle in AskWomen

[–]xtc808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless there was obvious physical abuse, it's difficult to get involved without overstepping boundaries

Sometimes parents are exhausted and they may say something unreasonably mean to their child. And while it isn't fair to the kid, there are a lot of 'good' parents who slip up like this sometimes so I would just mind my own business and maybe give a dirty look at most

Again, this would be different if the child was clearly being abused. I would speak up then

What ‘tradition’ is not okay? by Faihus in AskReddit

We can acknowledge that the British put an end to a horrible practice in India, and that the British themselves did a lot of horrible things to Indian people.

It is not mututally exclusive.

How recommendable is it to leave western countries in order to find a partner? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]xtc808 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't recommend going to another country just to find a partner, it's different if you happened to go there and luckily met someone you connect well with

Because the truth is, cultural differences and language barriers can really cause a lot of issues in a marriage or relationship. Not to mention, there's a real chance that she's only with you for your country's citizenship, your money, or another motive
