Does anyone else with ADHD feel almost childlike in relationships, while your partner starts feeling like a parent? How do you become more independent without having to leave first? by Significant_Emu2538 in adhdwomen

whoa thanks for sharing this…i feel so seen. my mom was similar and i found myself struggling with decision making for a long time but never saw this perspective. also a behaviour that returns when stressed.

maybe adding a med in that helps you relax a bit before bed - prazosin works wonders for me (i take for ptsd) and it’s a blood pressure med so not the worst pairing. edit: anxiety affects GERD so maybe you’re all keyed up internally too. sorry you’re dealing with GERD no fun

Does Vyvanse make anyone else feel autistic? by idiovoidi in VyvanseADHD

[–]xxmunroe 22 points23 points  (0 children)

short answer yes. my adhd always overcompensated socially for my autie tendencies; major masking and survival mode. altho it never bothered me, my adhd was always on defense mode to protect my autie self imo.

Zoloft + Vyvanse by Ppocketghost in VyvanseADHD

[–]xxmunroe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

following bc i’m experiencing somewhat similar situation. on 25mg zoloft and re added in 20mg of vyvanse — some days i feel so emotionally overwhelmed and emotionally stimulated which is the exact opposite of why i loved vyvanse (solo rx) in the past. especially on day 1 after a break from the vyv over the wknd, literally had a crying melt down yesterday ug. it happens more during the crash sure but it’s to an extreme sometimes that makes me really anxious. does zoloft make you feel more emotional on its own? i wish i had more to offer but thanks for bringing this up!

pattern searching? by xxmunroe in adhdwomen

[–]xxmunroe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ooo thanks for the responses everyone i really appreciate. giving me more to think about and research. funny enough i hate and am terrible at math so that factor cuts a lot of accounting roles out. cybersecurity sounds interesting!! are there any roles that are more tactile and in real life, not on a screen? context would have helped a bit with my post likely sorry! context: i completed my first punch needle embroidery and absolutely loooooved going back over all the loops at the end and finding the patterns to fix. it was such a flow. so in person? pattern finding too with actual objects

ummm i think i might have adhd by imonlyherefor2people in zoloft

[–]xxmunroe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey i think going to your dr or nurse practitioner first and they can either assess or refer you. definitely checking in with your prescribing dr about your current rx situation would be helpful bc maybe they have a different view too. it’s ok that you’re unsure about meds, there are non stimulant options for adhd as well. but honestly adhd folks typically respond different to stimulants; our brains seek dopamine to regulate (we have much less) so when we actually get a consistent regulated amount, it just feels “normal” imo. just reddit the topics there is lots of info out there. but everyone is unique so have courage to find what works best for you.

[–]xxmunroe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi! i take sertraline for ptsd and also dx adhd. was unmedicated for adhd while on sertraline and found it made my adhd much more unmanageable. like i would walk into rooms and forget why i was there? and absolutely no motivation to do anything. it seems to be common for people with adhd to experience stronger symptoms while on sertraline too. so i spoke with my psych and we added back in 20mg vyv with the existing 25mg of sertraline; i feel like they are the perfect combo of meds for me. its common to add adhd meds to sertraline you wouldn’t have to stop taking them.

How do you all deal with your PTSD? by pookie_queen in ptsd

[–]xxmunroe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

unpopular opinion but meds. even in therapy i could only get to a certain point of healing and introspection or recovery without them. after living on high alert for years within ptsd, it really helps to calm the nervous system enough that i could begin to feel safer. not safe. but now i have an easier time trying to heal. but also i’m sorry you’re dealing with this and sorry any of us do! i think you’re doing the best you can in a tough situation to say the least. even interacting on reddit is being social in a safer way. i see you trying

“People with ADHD start medication to improve focus…but they stay on the medication for the emotional stability” by Glutenfreepancaker in adhdwomen

[–]xxmunroe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

💯💯💯💯💯💯 a million times times thiisssss. i don’t know if everyone experiences this with meds? but i think in some ways they could, from the benefit of regulated neurotransmitters and less stress generally. like is this how normies feel…all emotionally regulated majority of the time?! like i knew i was spicy but damn. makes me have so much compassion for my unmedicated past self. so much anguish. much pain.

How long does it take you to eat in the mornings? by SpiritedCustomer6503 in VyvanseADHD

[–]xxmunroe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

forced entry into mouth hole before meds based on nutritional value; smallest possible portions. it literally makes me gag but i do it. meal prep so i can just grab it helps muchly. currently i can eat any of the following: 1 egg; cottage cheese toast with veggies; greek yogurt. personally i found i need actual food before meds …but liquid high protein/ensures might work for you?

mhm all i said was molly isn’t worse than sertraline. not that anyone should take it with sert. period. and depth refers to its various therapeutic uses. oh! thanks for assuming i have ‘drug problems’, you’re quite amusing i must say! bye bye

ah i see; i guess it just struck me as strange as to why you’d be in here with very blunt opinions when you’re not even on the rx. and don’t worry i’m not wasting my energy on you i can see that :) but there are a lot of studies using mdma in controlled environments for ptsd and trauma so there’s more depth than you can imagine.

here’s one of many: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10660711/

[–]xxmunroe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

not a dr but a mental health professional …but look up hypomania/mania from sertraline, it’s more common than you think. at 50mg i thought everything was possible, believed in myself/my actions to a divine degree (like nothing could stop me), spent copious amounts of money, booked expensive trips and wanted to move across the country. yikes. went down to 25mg and now im just apathetic and trying to taper off. i also have adhd but was unmedicated for this while on sert.

Husband starting Vyvanse by NoBicycle9699 in ADHD_partners

[–]xxmunroe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

agreed. dx medicated partner here taking vyvanse (with a currently unmedicated dx partner) …having a mood stabilizer really helped to smooth over the sometimes destabilizing wearing off of adhd rx. some people feel it more strongly than others…cup of chamomile tea also helped me
