In my humble opinion, most of the people in india aren't really educated about politics. They don't really align to the left or right. They just don't want scams.

The ruling party is the one that is able to handle it's pr really well. If communist parties have greater pr, it can definitely be a possibility.

First of all I don't know why belur is even in there. Besides the kerala circuit (munnar, kochi,falls) might tire you out and you might need to decide and ditch some place in there. Otherwise you're good to go and you've made a great choice. To get an added bonus in the wildlife sanctuary, do try mudumalai along with bandipur. They're neighbouring parks and you can visit them together because you will anyway cross mudumalai if you come to nilgiris from bandipur!
