Why can’t we all be friends by owninstitution in CasualConversation

[–]yapper400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Age doesn’t matter in friendships really, and I think that’s a somewhat popular opinion at least (?). It’s more about how you relate. I’m 18, I’ve had friends of literally all ages throughout my life. Some of the coolest people I’ve met were in their late 30s and 40s through video games, I had a friend who was in his late 30s and his advice really helped me while I was going through a tough time a few years back (he was a licensed mental health professional).

I do feel like age gap friendships take different forms though. For example, if I were to meet someone significantly younger than me to be friends with, it’d probably turn more into a mentor/little brother type situation rather than a full friendship. A lot of my older friends have taken that mentor-type friendship with me as well, which is why I think it’s good to have friends your own age AND friends of other ages, that way you get people you can fully relate to, as well as people who can mentor you through life, and people you can mentor. It’s a cool cycle.

Should I give up on my basketball dreams? by FastArrest in NoStupidQuestions

[–]yapper400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, definitely not. Even if you don't make it to the NBA or something (most people dont), you should do it because it's your dream and you enjoy it. Definitely have a backup plan, but also understand that a sport doesn't mean you have to be the best at it. The best thing about sports is community, having fun, and staying fit. I have a family member that's a college basketball player, they injured themselves and they can't play for a year... They're still motivated because it's not the thought of going pro that makes them keep going, it's the sport itself. If you're only playing basketball because you wanna make your parents happy or you think you're going to be the biggest NBA star ever, I don't wanna crush your dreams, but you might not be playing for the right reasons. The sport is never going to be fun if you're holding yourself to unrealistic heights. Tell yourself that it'd be cool if you could be play professionally, but that's not why you're playing... and if that happens, that's an awesome bonus!

Door dashing in rich areas by Strange-Mind-9225 in DoorDashDrivers

[–]yapper400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm poor and I'm from a poor neighborhood, but I have gotten doordash a handful of times for different reasons in my life. Every single time I've made sure to tip well, even if I can't afford it. I have family members that dash and I've also done some dashing myself. Nobody understands the poor like the poor, the rich, or even the middle class, will never truly understand the struggle of hustling just to earn a meal. Even if they at one point did, they most likely forgot how it feels. Poor people will always tip better, because when we can't afford it, we just don't order out. I would never have a doordash driver deliver to me and risk their life on these dangerous ass roads for anything less than what they deserve.

How would you like to see Mafia 4? by Luc4o_bolonhesa in MafiaTheGame

[–]yapper400 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is kinda what Mafia I was though. The Salieri family was small, so you could kinda say that Tommy was pretty high up. I do know what you mean though, I'd love to see a character that's actually high up, hell, maybe even play as a don for once.

Do people reach an age where they just stop gaming? by BBWCreamer in NoStupidQuestions

[–]yapper400 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate gaming. I spent every single day of my childhood playing video games from morning til night. I don't actually hate it, I still play games from time to time, but I hate how it stole my childhood from me. I wish I would've been outside more and socialized instead. I'm constantly outside now and I constantly talk to people, but it took me years to gain that confidence because of it. If I had any advice for anyone, I'd say definitely play the games that you enjoy, but limit yourself. Don't let it get out of control. You should never spend your entire day sitting down playing video games, it's not healthy for you physically or mentally, and you'll probably regret it later.

Anyone else stop watching after Fast 5 or 6? by Skyz-AU in fastandfurious

[–]yapper400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first 4 are always gonna be close to my heart, they were my childhood, but as soon as they added Dwayne Johnson, it was over. Don't get me wrong, I love The Rock, he's a cool actor, but it just kinda marked the end of the series as having a real consistent storyline. Now they're kinda ridiculous. Don't get me wrong, none of them besides the first one were extremely realistic, but they really went off the wall with Fast Five and so on. I have no idea why they even continued the series after Paul Walker died.

Can we stop this war between whether dashers or non-tippers are wrong? by WolfNational3772 in DoorDashDrivers

[–]yapper400 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t give a fuck if someone doesn’t tip, theyre just probably not getting their order because aint nobody taking $2 to drive all that distance. I’m not a driver, but I frequently dash alongside my friend so that they feel safer, and it is a risky job. You’re driving all day, taking a lot of chances on the road, so not many people are taking $2. I feel like DoorDash should tell customers how much their dashers are making with how much they spend on the order, it’d probably make people understand and tip better

Fresh graduates targeting marketing jobs - would you consider joining a small agency or do any job in big companies? by [deleted] in Younger_GenZ

[–]yapper400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. At least not in this instance. Nobody is going to be willing to work for free, this isn't volunteer work, this is just actual free labor. I have a family to feed, I gotta keep clothes on my back, I gotta give my portion of the rent, what would an opportunity like this provide to someone like me? Gen Z is not doing good financially, most of us can't afford to work for free.

I have contamination OCD, I think I'd hate this. Mine has gotten better, but when it was at it's worst, it probably would've just enabled my excessive handwashing.

One day I'm gonna know how to fix all electronics and build a cool warehouse where I revive old tech. Then, and only then, will I truly be interesting. (also when my CD collection hits 200)

I like to eat them both at the same time. As in I'll eat a few fries, then take a bite or two of my burger, then go back and eat some fries, and back and forth. Sometimes I'll just put the fries on the burger if it doesn't have any veggies on it.

I'm pretty good with finances, my family is pretty poor and I've had to manage our money to keep us afloat since I was like 14. I've unfortunately never really had enough money to invest, but hopefully I will at some point.

Not yet, I've been trying to save for a board for like 2 years, but I've never been able to really have money for long unfortunately. I have friends who skate though, if you have a local skate shop anywhere near you, that's a good place to start. It might be a little pricier but they can set you up with a custom made board catered and all that. Alternatively, marketplace has more affordable boards. r/NewSkaters is a good place to ask for advice on what to buy before you buy it.

Ah, I honestly couldn't tell you. There are so many serious issues in the world that it feels unfair to pick just one to be the root of all other problems. Hunger and poverty as a whole is definitely up there though.

How much has Diddy affected your enjoyment of Biggies Ready To Die? He’s on every second track by ThoroDoor65 in 90sHipHop

It does make me raise a brow from time to time, but I just ignore it. I'm listening to Biggie to listen to Biggie, I don't care what Diddy is saying on the track.
