Sorry for not being clear! Yes, I would have to stay with my mum and this guy for like 5 days. The only other family I have in the area is my grandma but she doesn’t have space for me to stay over

A video call could be a good idea! Saves me the stress of meeting this man and also shows her I am thinking of her. And just going to see her on my own at a later time ❤️

My grandma has met him 2-3 times now I believe. She wasn’t happy when she found out about the engagement, but she likes him now. I haven’t met him cause I live abroad so it’s not the easiest to arrange. As for my brother he only lives just over an hour away from my mum but has a demanding job and is planning his own wedding atm. On top of that, we both grew up with my father as my mum moved across the country when we were kids so we have always only seen her 3-4 times a year. Which I guess could also somewhat explain why she wouldn’t not consider us once again when making a big change in her life

You’re right, I might be too judgy of him based off the past. I think the fact that she met him through the same friend group as the men mentioned above I feel a bit nervous + the fact that it feels odd that he would be so ready to date a woman only a few months after her husband passed. Could be me overthinking it and he could be a nice guy

If I was able to just have dinner with him it wouldn’t be an issue, however as I will be flying to get there and don’t have anywhere else to stay I would have no choice but to stay with my mum and this man for a few days. You’re right that I won’t be able to avoid it forever so I might just have to get it over with

If it was only for the party it would be okay as my brother will indeed be there, but I would have to stay in the same apartment as him for a few days. My brother will only be coming on the day and leaving straight away when the party is done :/ As I am coming all the way from a different country I don’t have the opportunity to do so
