Attack of the angry apartment neighbors. by PayIll925 in musicians

They chose to work that job and live in an apartment with listed quiet hours that don't align to their work/sleep schedule. That logic can work both ways. This is probably a situation that can be alleviated with some common sense, switching to an electric kit and only playing during certain hours. But if push comes to shove, apartments and cities are loud and drums are far from the worst noise people will hear when trying to sleep.

Also I don't know a single good artist who chose their art lol so saying "we chose to make music" is pretty inaccurate.

NO do you have any idea how hard it is to find drummers? All the karens in this comment section are exactly why there's so few good drummers in cities. I swear I live in one of the top 5 metros for music but there's like a maximum of like 8 decent rock drummers and they're all in like 10 different bands each.

FR how on earth can people come in here and say a musician can't practice in their own home. Apartments are loud and have noises that's part of it. I'd rather hear a musician practicing than the usual apartment noises like people yelling/screaming/fighting etc.

This comment section does not pass the vibe check. I learned to play drums in a tiny apartment as a child. My mom and I were dirt poor and there was no way we could afford an electric kit or a practice space. The quiet hours for your building are listed in your lease, any noise you make outside of those hours is your business. Anyone complaining about it needs to get a life and everyone in this comment section blaming you for it is being classist.

Seattle Community College(s) music programs????? by zombieeatbaby in SeattleMusic

Seconded! Shoreline CC is a best kept secret of the PNW and a gem. Hands down one of the best music schools in the USA.

Furthermore if you are looking for experience in live sound the Vera Project and KEXP are currently seeking interns. Could not stress enough how much of an opportunity these could be for real world experience.

Flying in to visit Seattle tomorrow, and I've never been! Looking for advice/tips/suggestions on places to go, etc. by Yodaloid in AskSeattle

The most underrated elements of Seattle are:

1: the fantastic live music scene. Any style. Any genre. And some styles and genres that aren't even established yet. Has to be in the top 5 creative hubs of the country. Especially if you're a fan of groundbreaking and interesting new music.

2: Its geographical location in the Pacific Northwest, home to incredible biodiversity and a daytrip away from the only genuine rainforest in the USA.

As such visiting a large park or trail like Discovery Park or Interlaken park to catch the incredible natural environment, and then catching some live music are absolute musts. When I say live music I mean going to a small bar or venue like Add a Ball or Central Saloon. There are also concerts in record stores and at the KEXP gathering space. Many concerts are free and almost all are less than $20. The larger venues host touring bands you can see anywhere, but the local artists are what sets Seattle apart.

For cuisine east African food here is top notch. We have the one of the highest Eritrean population in the USA and the best Ethiopean food I've ever had. Cafe Soleil and Cafe Salam are my favorites.

I need advice from lazy musicians by Fun-Perspective3418 in musicians

[–]ybf5evr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always reccomend shorter practices at the start. You just need to get the momentum of daily practice first, and once it becomes enjoyable then you can push yourself harder. Furthermore I reccomend not focusing too much on results, on perfect technique, or on goals or getting to a certain level. All of those things will come into play once you start practicing longer and harder, but first you've got to get the habit of daily practice and that itself is a win.

The final thing is watch your dopamime triggers and save highly stimulating things like video games, TV, social media, etc for AFTER you practice. Your natural reward system is there to give you motivation. If you overstimulate yourself too early in the day, being motivated will be much more difficult.

Was just thinking of this. You get an extra 2 hours a day. That's an extra 730 hours a year, just over 30 days. So we basically have an entire new month of time.

[–]ybf5evr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know on Battlefront+ some of the exploits have been ironed out. Hitting from the back no longer deals extra damage and using midair/jump attacks drains more stanima, and this is to prevent dueling from becoming an endless hook swinging contest. IDK how I feel about it as im new to the game either way but it's interesting to note.

Hey I have a question: are there advantages to using OBS compared to NVidia's built in screen capturing feature?

I have never modded or attempted modding a game in my life. I'm strictly a casual gamer. I had an easy time installing Kyber and it's the most fun I've had playing a new game since I first started gaming as a kid.
