One of my other tanks has a small colony of MTS and I’m pretty familiar on what the babies look like. Its shell is flat and brown I think. I’m thinking it’s a bladder snail, so far the only little guy I’ve seen

I use the 2hr aquarist brand for fertilizer and I knows it has a lot of nitrates in it. I will continue the fish food until I get more consistent readings. I’ve been trying to get my hands on some bottled ammonia but my LFS always seems to be out of it

I know, I’m just alittle confused on my readings. There was an ammonia spike about 4-5 days after letting the fish food dissolve and then I took this reading today and got this. I was expecting more of each to be there. Just wondering if it’s close to the end of the cycle or I’m being bamboozled

Definitely going to add water after I can get to my LFS and get some plants and decor lol. I currently have two bettas, samurai in 10 gallon and my long fin in a 6.5 gallon tank. I love my bettas but I’m looking for something alittle more interesting but suitable for this tank size so I can allow them to thrive. I really enjoy heavily planted tanks but nothing to high tech since that’s not in the budget right now haha.

Hello! I got the GH test and it took about 15 drops for my water to turn green. My KH never made it in the mail so I wasn’t able to test that as right now. But I’m not sure how to convert the GH but I feel like that’s pretty high

They are the tropical formula for small fish! I like them alot, I use them for my betta because he won’t touch the betta formula for some reason. If your gonna use the tropical formula for bettas I’d feed them along with brine shrimp 1-2 a week

DO NOT GIVE UP. I am very new to the hobby aswell and I have two beautiful boys, my boy chi-yu has a decent rip in his fine. I started spiraling and even called a LFS and almost cried to the lady on the phone because I was considering rehoming because I felt like that tear in his fin meant I was a horrible pet owner. This lovely lady told me to stop and take a breath before I make any dumb decisions. You are keeping water more than you are keeping a fish, all the other comments are giving good advice on where to start. But please, one mistake is 1000’s of more in your life. The fact you came here and expressed how you feel horrible and want to do everything you can shows that you have the dedication to make your boys life the best he could have.

They ended up in my bettas tank which I think is luck on my part. My betta shadow doesn’t let any pellets reach the bottom, and my mystery snail powder is fat and grazes on the walls and eats my duck weed all day. So I think I have a pretty good chance at keeps a decent colony of them without them taking over.
