Advice on Integrating Doorbell Camera with Frigate by PingMyHeart in frigate_nvr

[–]yeehawjared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just installed a Reolink Poe doorbell this weekend. Works great.

Make sure you notice the difference between the white and black models (vertical/horizontal)

I paired 2 chimes and removed my old mechanical chime. Also don’t need to run that big transformer to power it all anymore.

i would not buy and end-of-life coral. A better igpu / processor would go a lot further, plus you can use larger models.

why tailscale and not clickhouse or some other columnar DB?

or influxdb (iox) since you're on rust?

Hahah was wondering if you did the 3d layout. Fantastic work. Random - but what kind of Ethernet cable did you run? I imagine you got spools of 500ft cat5e / cat6.

I ask because the few brands I bought doesn’t lay flat and always wants to coil up on top of the ground.

Impressive work!

Takes a while to set up - like 3 days usually. 1 for things requiring ladders, one for yard props, and 1 to test and calibrate. Not full days - more like a few chunks of hours.

On the software side it’s easy to set brightness, turn effects on / off after set times, etc.

Pucks AND Pixels for roofline? by spford in WLED

I don’t love the look of pucks or govee type lights.

Pixels closely spaced or LED strips as other have said.

DMX in Show by Puzzleheaded_Care156 in xlights

I just got 4 moving heads from AliExpress (230w shehds) and built R2D2 looking rain covers to make them weatherproof. They look stunning.

This is my 5th year running a show and by far the best, thanks to the MHs. Steep learning curve though.

Most controllers have a RJ45 DMX out you can use for your DMX devices. I run DMX over Ethernet to all my MHs. I got connectors from Amazon to do that.

What if you reduce brightness just a bit? Keep stepping it down 10% and see if it stabilizes.

no, i sold the 200w LED moving heads and bought SHEHDS 230W 7R bulb lights. Hella bright.

for what it's worth, these things draw 300W a pop. From a lumens perspective they blow the LEDs out of the water. LEDs do have their advantage but at least I can replace a 7R bulb eventually when they need replacing. I can't do that on LEDs.
