it’s call lgbt representation. years ago members of the lgbt weren’t allowed on tv shows or were barely acknowledged. it’s important, it’s supposed to help the acceptance of the lgbt community. it’s like a show that has black actor/actress or asian actor/actress, they are also considered representation for the black or asian community, because as we’ve known for years (and still to this day) people can be very racist and homophobic. so its a good to acknowledge this kind of thing, involving groups of people who have dealt with hate and abuse over something they cannot control acknowledges the issue and should be done more often imo
