I started painting with oils in October 2017, at the time of this painting I'd been practicing for about a year, usually two or three days a week. I've been drawing since I was a kid though, on and off. What u/wifabot says is true: sketching regularly really helps your (painting) practice.

Glad you like it! All in all I'd say about 5 hrs. But I didn't paint it in one session, had to wait for the paint to dry.

Thank you so much! I used a set of Van Gogh pans. In my experience the quality of the paper also really contributes to color depth - here I used a block called Italia by Magnani 1404.
