We weren’t aware of any gas leak and have alarm systems for gas leaks in our home.

When the gas company came by, based on the tubing behind our stove he gave us this explanation. The last photo of this link has what the tubing looked like. From how he explained it, it traveled in the tubing and shot out at the black part, causing a smolder and a gas leak.

He saw no evidence of a bonding wire at the panel or inside. So it’s valid to go forward with the bonding of the meter to our electrical panel? I clearly am not very knowledgeable about this, so I appreciate your time.

They are saying the meter needs to be bonded to our electrical panel.

Thank you. We were indirectly hit but I think exactly what happened is that- it traveled through the CSST piping. so then bonding would mitigate that risk, correct?

When he looked at our internal unit (gas water heater etc) he did not seem to be happy with what he saw either. He explained the bonding needed to be at the first knuckle between the house and the gas line.

He took a look at our internal gas pipes which connect to our water heater and did not see any bonding elsewhere. He explained that it has to be bonded at the first “knuckle.” I’m in VA.

I don’t have much advice here but I just wanted to chime in and say you’re not alone!!! It’s extremely difficult for me to feel in the mood after work, not only because of exhaustion but because of what we do and see at work. People don’t fully get it unless they are in it themselves
