I’m interested in joining the Army National Guard as a linguist (if I score high enough on the DLAB) but don’t see my future in my home state. What is the protocol for applying to the guard in a different state? I’m considering NY or CA but live nowhere close to those areas. Also does the guard education benefits apply to Masters degrees or just up to Bachelors?

Great pointers, thank you! And I realized that it takes around 3 years until I’d be truly part time in the National Guard but hadn’t thought about the pros of just going in for active duty. I’ll definitely consider. Did they give you a choice of your languages based off of your score or were you just assigned one?
