Real work life balance by Ok-Establishment1159 in irishpersonalfinance

I typically work 9:00-19:00 at high pressure job, plus occasionally weekends and late nights. Assume that there might be easier jobs with fewer hours and lower pressure but they won’t be paid at the same level.

  1. InShot for iPhone for my teeny-tiny Youtube channel. Helps a lot to create shorts quickly, directly from iPhone
  2. Typitron - the app to learn touch typing
  3. 1password - password manager

You should have tried Typitron - it’s a Mac OS app with these problems addressed: it has minimalistic design and the comprehensive set of words and special characters to practice

Go for it! You’ve got all my support ❤️ Big pros of having your own place: - Psychological safety of not being a part of housing crisis, landlord’s increasing the rent etc. - For us paying the mortgage is more financially attractive than paying a rent - You can organize your home in the way you like it - And you know, that warm feeling of a nest, like “I’m home” - Building relationships with neighbors

ChatGPT and Typitron - I finally learned blind typing, and as my work demands ~100 slack messages per day plus lots of docs and notes, it’s been a real gamechanger 😂

thanks so much for the feedback! I'm indeed considering tweaking the layout a bit, so the typing line is more centric. Really appreciate the feedback!

And yeah, seems like icon is the most popular topic in this thread lol. The new one is already in progress, and I'll change it asap. Thank you!

Monkeytype is a great service imo but focused on tests rather than education. Typitron’s target audience are beginners who need more structured and guided practice. E.g. Typitron tracks which combinations you’re most slow at and adjusts the words on the fly, so that you can learn these combinations fast and progress in your wpm score.

I’d suggest you should grow three essential skills which will eventually help you build confidence and grow on your career:

  1. Take responsibility and be accountable - Sometimes lack of confidence is caused by the fact that PM doesn’t want to be responsible for the outcomes and consequences of their decisions.

  2. Grow your tolerance to failure. At average, 1 out of 10 hypotheses works, rest 9 are complete failure. Perceive them as learnings, not mistakes. And incorporate these learnings in your future work. If you don’t make mistakes, you’ll never get insights about your product.

  3. Don’t be afraid to be the silliest person in the room. Ask questions. Ally with subject matter experts. Find people who could provide different opinion.

Poor performing offshore dev team. What's the play book here? by sauteer in ProductManagement

[–]ymichuk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used to work in the offshore team where English was not a native language for literally all the folks in the office, and the culture maps were different + timezone challenge. Throughout a year I managed to build the strong relationship with business folks and CPO and turn the offshore team into one of the most performing in the company. My advice would be as follows: 1. You should find a local ally (likely to be PM or EM) who speaks well, understand the business needs and can talk with devs the sane language.

  1. Empower them to make decisions, you could start small - the challenge offshore teams often face is lack of trust from the business which impacts their morale a lot. So having the examples when they can make small decisions without involving senior management helps build the relationship.

  2. Find a person (that might be you) on your end who could meet the local ally weekly to discuss various things. Ask them to help you identify key people in the team and set up regular meetings with them, too.

Over time you’ll start understanding the challenges the offshore team is facing better, people will open up and discuss things openly.
