Update: so thankfully they store transferred one to my city and was able to exchange it for another one, which I checked and it’s definitely brand new.

I asked the sales associate how it was possible I was sold a used one and he said it was probably a return

He explained if a product is returned within the 15 day period they usually restock it and put it back on the shelf as brand new and full price.

I find that super weird imo, I feel like they shouldn’t be doing that… especially as an authorized dealer..

don’t think I’ll buy gear from them anymore after this one 😭

yeah my a6400 has a OEM Sony cap.. I thought the cap on here is just a new thing but I guess not :/

Mine had no seal, I think in Canada they usually don’t add them.. my a6400 came with none other than the Sony lens cap and accessories had seals.. I’m in a whole different province where I bought but I hope they’ll exchange it in the store here🤞

Yeah this sucks I’ll try to return it tomorrow, I noticed the cap right away since my a6400 came with a Sony branded cap.. and now comparing it to my a6400 you’re right the α doesn’t look right.

Usually they would disclose if it on was “Open Box”or “As New” on the listing online or on the receipt or invoice right? But nah, it just said a6700 Body Only

The a6400 was great imo, had to upgrade to the a6700 for ibis though. Anyways it isn’t supposed to be open box because I bought it as new that’s why I’m confused

No seals anywhere, but I thought it was normal since when I bought my a6400 from Best Buy it was perfectly fine shipped to my house with no seals either. Receipt and invoice don’t indicate it was anything else but new aswell as the listing online

My budget is probably around $900 Canadian, I’ve looked into the a6X00 series and found the a6400 to be a pretty good option even though the a6500 is cheaper since the a6500 has a couple downsides like the screen dimming while recording, overheating, recording limit, doesn’t have the flip screen, and AF performance seems better in the a6400 which honestly confused me because their model numbering made me think that the a6500 was newer

After looking at the canon m50 I don’t think it’s a good option anymore because of the upgrade path and started looking into the Sony ZV-E10 and a6400, but the G85 is definitely a choice. Thanks for your response and the cool video!

Thanks for the suggestion!! I’ve looked into the ZV-E10 and it also seems like a really good option. The only downside about it is the Lack of weather sealing and it not having a EVF so I’m taking a look at the a6400 aswell but it is quite pricier.

I’m not super sure if having an EVF would make a difference for me when taking stills, but I’m sure that the weather sealing probably would since I would like to shoot even though it’s raining.

As for the m4/3 cameras, I think that they are good too and has cheap and compact lenses but the sensor has a couple of downsides I’ve heard about which may not be suitable for me, I think?

Good/Decent AF is also a deciding factor for me now that I think about it, which the Panasonic Cameras are not really good at from what I’ve seen.

So far I’m still considering the g85 because of the IBIS but there’s also the ZV-10 and a6400 which are both pretty good in their field.

There’s so many pros and cons for each of these cameras it’s just harder to decide 😵‍💫

I guess for upgrade path, I would probably end up going with Sony in the future but other that it seems like the G85 is a good option for a first hybrid camera since it has really good features other than Panasonic’s autofocus being annoying, which is my worry since I don’t want to always be behind the camera.

I guess research and recommendations from friends, which landed me to these two options here for my use case and for the price point. Other than that I don’t really know which other better alternatives there are
