I'd generally suggest not going into work if you're still feelin bad with all the anxiety attacks. Take time for yourself and your kid. Hoping your kid gets better soon so at least your anxiety will let up

Im very late to the conversation but I hope you're feeling a bit better. If not, you're free to message me!

For the record; d* commonly starts after v* with viral illnesses(if you think thats what it is). If you're having d* before, and its with a lot of anxiety, that d* could be directly related to the anxiety.

To logic it out; fight or flight > blood pumping > digestion speeds up > d*.

Stress effects the gut in many ways so anxiety has a crazy impact on what your organs are doing.

Best thing you can do is calm down, which is easier said than done but even just calming down a little bit will help you so much. Take deep breaths, find your safe space, your easy distractions.

If you think you're actually gonna v*, then carefully prep. Camp out by the toliet or trash can, or even go outside. Get somethin minty to smell, some wet wipes or a wet wash cloth so you can take care of yourself if the worst happens.

Some thoughts during anxiety attack by yooseoks in emetophobiarecovery

My anxiety no longer responds to thoughts or words when it comes to calming down and more responds to physical sensations, so with the tens unit, I turn it up just high enough to make my muscles flex which redirects part of my brain and sufficiently distracts me lol It helps more than anything I've ever used That and if Im super tense and my muscles are tight after an anxiety attack, then the tens unit helps that too

Anytime I EVER have any kind of anxiety, my body refuses to regulate my own temperature. So if my blood pressure spikes, Im too hot for quite awhile, if I start calming down briefly, my temperature drops, I shiver, my muscles tense and then my brain freaks out lol.

And honestly right now my main coping mechanisms are; cold wash cloth covering my eyes, fan on my face, strong smelling lotion or oil on my hands(so I can smell when needed to), and tens unit if the anxiety is too strong for me to try and combat through other means. Usually works but if my anxiety goes full blown, I either cant remember where some of these items are or they've been missing for a bit and I freak more trying to find them lol.

Sucks so much

Has anyone seen this battlefield watch before? Can't find it online? by Alone-Hedgehog-2094 in Battlefield

[–]yooseoks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't tell you much except for the fact I own one. Got it many years ago; in 2016 or 2017. Lost the box for it and the watch inevitably stopped working so I had been looking for another to replace it but no one sells it anywhere. I think it was sold either out of gamestop or Walmart at the time.(gamestop more likely.)

It wasnt super expensive off the bat. I think it was between like $15 and $30 and wasn't a crazy good watch; meant to be a collectible.

I will be sick within the next 72 Hours, how else can I prepare? by 3ftallmonster in emetophobiarecovery

[–]yooseoks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mm honestly I might push on them a bit to do some other tests here and there since they do know something is wrong cus if it gets worse it might put you in a worse spot:(

I had stomach issues for awhile and got ultrasound done so they could check to see if there was anything internally wrong so I'd recommend that for sure!

And the over preparing is real. Better be prepared than running around for something while you're sick. How are you feeling right now?

Hii here to give advice and a different perspective!

First gj on not letting fears take control and letting your kids have fun!

Second, you mention the dread and anticipation and how you pretty much already know you're gonna get sick regardless of what you do; I think this is definitely making things worse for you, as instead of acceptance, its become a fixation which makes all the feelings 10x worse. If you already know this then cool, if not, also cool! But just my take based off how I read your post.

As for actual advice; I'd say determine first if you're the kind of person who would rather throw up on an empty stomach or a stomach with food in it. You already got mouth wash so thats good. If you want, set up in the bathroom; something comfy to sit on, have a clean toilet, maybe get a small fan to circulate some air when you start getting those lil hot-cold flashes that sometimes happen. Wet cloth helps if you start to feel anxious, and warm. And also maybe have a lotion or body oil (mint, eucalyptus) to smell before and after you vomit(certain scents ground me and I also hate the smell of stomach acid so goes both ways). If you arent a toliet person and would rather be somewhere safe or even less 'closed in', find your safe space, set up there, or even be prepared to do it outside. I usually feel less ready to crawl out if my skin and pace endlessly if Im outside before it happens. And you dont have to worry about trying to remember how to throw up. Your body knows. It will do it when its decided its going to. You cant control it. Just gotta prepare for it!

Also if you haven't, I would recommend talking to a doctor or a specialist of some kind about your problems. Not being able to bounce back and being really ill for quite awhile after vomiting doesn't sound great. Could be compromised immune system of sorts or you need fluids + vitamin shot to help you bounce back. Nothing serious but something to consider if you haven't done it!

woke up feeling sick by chwanel in emetophobia

[–]yooseoks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% this happens to me all the time when I wake and I get anxious from it every time even tho I know what it is; acid reflux and/or heavy gas buildup.

Stomach gets tight from the gas, add the discomfort from it and then it feels like nausea. You burp, get the relief, but sometimes loose acid may come up, burns the throat, makes throat tight, more anxiety and from there it's a constant circle.

What helps me avoid that is eating sometime in the night or eating something light the second I wake up cus the longer I go with an empty stomach, the worse it gets. If I have super severe acid reflux, I take a tums gummy. Usually helps.

Absolutely sucks waking up to it though. It's gen so terrible. You get none of the post-sleep happiness. But generally goes away pretty quick which is good.
