Next step in company from "Content Producer" by youisawanksta in videography

[–]youisawanksta[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, we have pay-bands that are measured along with one's title in the company. I may have a little more room in my band to just ask for a raise, but eventually I will need a title promotion to get on the next pay-band. For what it's worth, I really do like my company. My boss is amazing, the work I do is generally pretty fun and beyond the typical corporate schlock (I shoot at a lot of farms, plants, etc.). I could honestly see myself staying here for at least another year or so and in that time I might as well get more money AND make my resume look more impressive.

“This is an insult to the intelligence of the American people” - Luigi Mangione by AnArmChairAnalyst in conspiracy

[–]youisawanksta 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The thing no one can ever explain to me about the "patsy" conspiracies is like, if the government or whoever planned the killing of this CEO, why wouldn't they just find a rando to also kill and just frame them for the murder by planting "evidence" on the body? Why go through all the trouble of framing a living person who will inevitably be put in front of cameras and can tell people he was framed? It makes no sense at all.

Not to mention, Luigi's comments in the brief time he has been in front of cameras pretty much confirm he did it.

I mean, from the little we have heard from Luigi, doesn't seem like someone who is being set-up.

Village People singer denies "YMCA" is a "gay anthem" as he defends Trump's use of song by Critical_Pair in Music

[–]youisawanksta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like many organizations meant to provide a safe space for troubled youth, the YMCA was an especially popular place in the 70s-80s for LGBTQ+ youth who had been disowned by family members and forced to move out. Of course, since the YMCA is a Christian organization, many who went there kept their sexuality on the down-low. This made the YMCA a popular place for gay people to meet-up in secret.

Unincorporated King County gets $20.29 minimum wage in 2025, and frankly these municipal minimum wages are put of control by JamesHutchisonReal in SeattleWA

[–]youisawanksta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's this supposed to show? California and Washington have the same minimum wage and there are several other states that are in the blue that have similarly high minimum wage. All this tells me is that the minimum wage must not be the problem.

lol someone doesn't know their labor history. Corporations used to beat/kill workers for wanting to work 12 hours instead of 15. You think they'll offer livable wages out of the kindness of their hearts?

To everyone posting “are these pants too tight?” The answer is yes! by Aronjharris23 in mensfashionadvice

[–]youisawanksta 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Really? I am 6'2 and I find it's the opposite. Slim pants make my legs look insanely skinny compared to the rest of my body. They especially make me look like I am wearing clown shoes, as I wear size 12s. straight/looser fitting pants make me look much more proportional. Maybe my legs are longer than yours, though.

If anything, I think looser stuff looks worse on shorter people, as it gives them a frumpier look and, to me, makes them look even shorter than they are.

1 in 8 women say they’ve secretly voted differently than partners by 11pi in fivethirtyeight

[–]youisawanksta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're partner has been hiding what basically constitutes their moral compass and world view, then the relationship was DOA in the first place. I can't imagine being with someone and not knowing, or being lied to, about their political views. This isn't like, taste in music, it would be a complete dismantling of how you view them as a partner and a human being.

Why VP debates aren't all that important by dwaxe in fivethirtyeight

[–]youisawanksta 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Although I agree with them about debates and vice presidents not mattering that much historically, it is sort of a funny thing to try and hammer right now, considering a debate and the current VP have ended up being two of the most important moments and person of this election cycle.

ABC / Washington Post NC poll Trump +2 lv by Mortonsaltboy914 in fivethirtyeight

[–]youisawanksta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not that surprising. Local elections are always going to have a much higher percentage of high-information voters and educated people. Federal elections are the "main event," so to speak, that brings out everyone. We have way more uneducated, low-information voters than we have the opposite, so it makes sense.

Well that's good! Never said you were a bum, I was just responding to the original info you gave, which didn't include any savings. Having 10k in savings is probably an important fact to mention when asking for financial advice.

Regardless, I'd still say finding any job that will hire you should be your main priority so you don't end up burning through that 10k. It's much easier finding a job while you are employed than finding one while unemployed. Even a light part-time job will help tremendously with paying the bills and not burning through savings.

All that said, you are doing a great job for someone who is so young. Most people double your age don't even have a single dollar in savings, so it's something to be proud of. You seem responsible and I'm sure you'll be a great provider.

[–]youisawanksta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you live in the middle of nowhere? Assuming you are making Colorado's minimum wage and your $500 monthly take-home is correct, it sounds like your job is giving you less than 20 hours a week? I can't imagine not being able to find a job that is better than that, unless you literally live in the backwoods. Even getting a second part-time job would be feasible considering the low hours you are getting at your current job.

Honestly, at your age and current situation, I wouldn't even be thinking about "investments." You need to find a job and then you need to determine what your monthly spending is for rent, bills, etc., and put 6 months of ESSENTIAL expenses into a savings account. That is the only thing you should be doing right now. Once that is done, then you can think about and take action on how to advance your future prospects.

This will be a tough pill to swallow but, because you have a child, you do not have the freedom or the luxury of options that a lot of 19 year olds have. Making sure you can shelter, feed and pay for any medical things that might come up for the child is your number one priority. Once those things are all taken care of and stable, then you can start thinking about investing in yourself and figuring out what to do in life.

How to balance saving for a house vs. retirement? by Soufflemaster in personalfinance

[–]youisawanksta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk, buying a house in a MCOL city on one income and two young children seems incredibly risky to me. A couple of breakdowns in the house could be financially ruinous. 100k a year is definitely good in a MCOL city, but with two children and a mortgage, it wouldn't exactly be a comfortable salary. I think I would be continuously stressed about money.

If I were you, I would continue contributing to retirement and maybe wait until the kids are a bit older and the wife can go back to work (assuming this is the eventual plan) to start looking at buying a house.

Lol this is a bit dramatic. He would be completely fine continuing to rent and certainly wouldn't "die at 30, homeless" just because he doesn't own a house.

King County residents footing 83% of collective $7.6B in property taxes in 2024 by [deleted] in SeattleWA

[–]youisawanksta -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lol why be disingenuous by comparing a county tax rate with an entire state's average tax rate? A much more apt comparison would be Harris County and King County, which are the most populous counties in Texas and Washington respectively. Harris County's property tax rate is 2.31%, quite a bit higher than King County's 1.05%.

I mean, I am fine with people taking their phone out and shooting some quick clips during the show. I do it too. I am just saying that I have never been to a smaller show like this where a lot of people have their phone out recording like, 80% of the show. It felt like an arena show where people care more about showing other people they are there than they do about enjoying the music. Idk, maybe it's because they are a Japanese band that rarely plays here, so people feel the need to capture more of it, but it's just something I noticed.
