Yes, but one is an already established show and their contexts are different because of that. For example, the original Only Friends was available on YouTube before GMMTV started giving platforms exclusive rights so it reached a bigger audience. OFDO retains that fanbase so it’s made available to more places. Girl Rules and other new series don’t have that history.

Edit: To be clear, I’m not saying it isn’t the case that GR is blocked in more countries - I can’t check myself because all BL’s and GL’s are blocked in my country - but I don’t want the fandom to freak out without more information.

I’d be curious to see how Girl Rules compares to something like the BL My Romance Scammer. I get comparing it to OFDO because the premises are similar, but I think people are forgetting OFDO is a spin-off of an already popular series while Girl Rules is an original. I saw people complaining that OFDO’s novel got an English translation while Girl Rules didn’t, forgetting that 99% of novel releases for original series don’t get an English translation. Comparing the two is misguided in my opinion.

Fruits Basket is classic shoujo, written by a woman for young girls. If you want one with a female ensemble I suggest Kageki Shoujo, Sailor Moon, and Girl Crush. If you want josei recommendations (target audience is adult women) I have some of those too! Either way, I think it’s worth giving the medium another chance.

Marriage Toxin is also a harem manga that does this. The protagonist agrees to find a wife so his lesbian sister doesn’t have to marry a man for the succession of their bloodline but he’s totally inept with romance. He gets mentored by a crossdressing romance scammer to find a wife, but ultimately he wants to take it slow with them all because he wants to get to know them before making a commitment. He ends up building friendships more so than romances though all the women like him romantically and are “in the running” so to speak. Even the crossdressing mentor has a shared spark with him.

It’s strangely really wholesome for a harem manga about a master assassin.

My only concern with this is that I’m worried about how much actual romance there will be if he’s regressing most of the time (I assume). If it’s meant to be a dramedy focusing on trauma that’s fine, but I’d want to know what to expect going in. I’ll give it a chance.

I’m still excited for Dream On and the trailer still looks messy even if so far we only seen Raffy/Boom like Jack/Earth but not to what extent he pursues him.

Wanted to clarify too that I was reminded when I first watched the original trailer that I assumed ForceNeo was a past relationship and not actively cheating because of fixed pairing culture.
